I wish had been on here earlier to stick up for MsFollowill when this was happening. In my opinion MsFollowill was right - discussions about music don't go down well because everyone has a different opinion and no one is right or wrong. Don't get me wrong - i enjoy a healthy discussion about it - but the problem is people like you come along and start talking down to others. MsFollowill wasn't complaining about people having different opinions, she was merely pointing it out. That was her opinion - and you starting giving out to her about it. You were giving out to her about, not only for something she didn't do, - but something you were actually doing yourself. I'm the kind of person to avoid confrontations - but in this case someone really needed to back MsFollowill up. Oh lord, I have never seen a more sensitive message board in my entire life! First off, did you go back and read everything she wrote or just the last part? Because if you did and you still think she needs defending then you fail at message board decorum. Let me spell this out for you. She got upset because some people didn't like the song and she didn't like that because then other people might get upset because they DID like the song. And then she said people just shouldn't discuss the music because (1) someone's feelings might get hurt and (2) SHE DIDN'T CARE about others opinions. Nowhere did I say that she wasn't entitled to her opinion or that her opinion was wrong. All I did was point out the ridiculousness of coming into the music section to complain about people discussing the music. I'm sorry, but do you not see the irony here? The whole purpose of a message board is to discuss things. Here we are on the MUSIC section of said message board discussing - or we WERE discussing - the MUSIC. You don't come into the music section of a message board and get upset that people are discussing the music! That's like going to a nude beach and bitching about all the nekkid people! If you don't want to discuss the music, then don't! There are many other sections of this board and about 8 jillion threads. Why not hang out where you're more comfortable? You know what would have been smarter to do Neon? It would have been smarter to PM MsFollowill and let her know if this happens again you got her back. Instead you come into the thread - you know the music thread about "Sex On Fire" - and change the subject BACK to something that had pretty much been resolved. MsFollowill said to leave her alone and I did because I'm smart enough to know when someone's NOT GETTING THE POINT. And you bring this back up! Listen, this ain't up for discussion anymore. It's over and done. This thread is about "Sex On Fire" OK? And since it is about "Sex On Fire", let me point this out. There were only 7 negative responses to this song out of approximately 21 on this thread. Which means about 1/3 of the people who bothered to comment in this thread didn't care for it - so far. 7 =/= everybody and neither does 1/3. So I think it's a bit silly to get riled up over a few people's differing opinions. Dont you dare speak for me! You have no idea who i am and everything Neon said it how i ment it And thats complete shit what you said about why i think music shouldnt be discussed you cant read cause i said that the reason ruby got smited is that people care if you dont like a song others dont, i am one of those people who couldnt give a crap if someone doesnt like a song that i like. i dont smite people for their music preferences i smite cause people are either horrible or rude

its not common, common at the minute consists of ridiculous songs padded out by la's and na's. some songs grow on you, i thought crawl was shit when ifirst heard it on youtube, but since seeing it \t oxegen, i know its ace, and it gets better every listen. i dont believe you can just dismiss a song straight after a few hours. also, i have never been in to this karma business, but smite has been delivered!
thanks.

its my least favorite of the new ones Totally, totally agree, I think this song is absolute shit! No offence to anyone who likes it, but I've been an fan of theirs since the early days, and this is as far away as possible from their older sound as can be. I originally loved their music because they were unique and individual, southern-inspired good rock music, and that they didn't sound like any other average commercial band out there. I know full well that they are developing and changing and evolving as a band continuously, and each album will sound different from the next, obviously, but this song sounds like a cheesy stadium rock song, its absolute bollocks. its so remote form what I thought they stood for (good southern- inspired dirty rock) This song sound common and like any other song out there, its monotonous and boring. There's nothing special or dirty about it. I'm kinda disappointed actually (Love crawl though lol) If they want to be popular and like any other shit band out there then good luck to em', but I have a feeling that hard core kol fans who originally liked em' for their unique sound will be so disappointed with this song. I'm so anti this type of music, I just really hope the rest of the album won't go down the stadium rock path. I agree with you completely. It is so bland and boring. If any song of theirs will finally get played on US radio, this one will. I hope the album is better than this cut. If not, I may have to give up my KOL fangirl life. I do like Use Somebody, Manhattan, and Crawl, but truthfully, Sex on Fire sux. I keep thinking that somebody needs an antibiotic. How exactly is your sex on fire? The band should have listened to Caleb when he said it was stupid. They also need to remember that they are a rock band, not a pop rock band. I find it amazing that this band is the same band that went on tour with Pearl Jam.

Why do you keep bringing this back to smiting? That's not the comment I'm referring to. Here, I'll quote you to make it easy. Im not saying this to anyone and i didnt dock your karma but im just fed up of people going on about how they dont like a song, i mean there were loads of Crawl threads and it just got annoying! i love peoples opinions just not about music because everyone is different Nowhere in this quote do you say anything about smiting other than to state you didn't dock Ruby. You do, however, pretty clearly state that you're "fed up" with people not liking the song. And you make clear that you don't like or want to hear others opinions on music. There's really no more charitable way to read this quote. Now would you like to clarify how I was wrong and can't read? And maybe this time you could mention "Sex On Fire" since we're in the GD SEX ON FIRE thread?!

Anyway... Thanks for this link I'll be using this one again. I really like all the songs I've heard from the new album, They are different from there other albums but if they weren't everyone would be complaining that their just churning out the same old stuff. I don't know what it is about Sex on Fire but it kinda triggers a memory for me but I can't quite out my finger on it.

Andy dear, I'm not the least bit angry. It's quite sad that you can't have strong opinions without it being labeled rage. People have forgotten about passion it seems. But anyhow, you're welcome to PM if you have something you want to discuss. Personally, I'd like for this thread to go back to a discussion over "Sex On Fire". I've been in the lyrics thread trying to make some things out and the sixth line is still impossible for me. Anyone have any opinion on the lyrics they'd like to share here or in the lyrics thread?

I totally agree, it just follows the formula that every other band does, you know: big intro, blah verses, catchy courus and then THE BIG ENDING with loads of guitar slides and whatnot. It's stupid. I really like Caleb's vocals though, giving up smoking has really improved them

okies.. so i just recieved a phone call from my sis who is driving to work.. "ROSEY!! PUT IT ON TRIPLE J!! THEY'RE GONNA PLAY KOL'S NEW SONG NEXT!!!" i didnt want to ask her if i would be crawl or sex on fire...coz i've heard crawl many times before, but never sex on fire, and to tell the truth i didnt wanna listen to it. but i coudlnt explain my philosophy over the phone coz holy shit, she was more excited than me and I AM the kol fan.
so i couldnt get recpetion for the station in my house..and i knew fully the song was on HA. dah! but i didnt wanna hurt her feelings,, she seemed to happy to be telling ME about a kol song and not the other way round..so she calls me afer the song "omg!!! i realllllyyyy liked it!! caleb's got this (And i quote).. "SLEEPY DRUGGED OUT VOICE"".. lol!! yes, we know honey!
i said to her, "i bet i wont like it!"..and she replied, "yerr i don't think you will, but i really liked it!"
i came on here, got the mp3 for it, listened...and im thinking.. im sticking to my philosophy: im not listening to any of these leaked tracks before the album drops.. ive said it before - but i will say it again -- i'm not going to force myself to like a song.. i need to hear in it the context of the album!!! and thats what im gonna do.. buy the album..listen to it many times, over say, 3 weeks..and THEN judge. i just can't do it right now, without the rest of the album songs. an album = a sound, a certain established mood, and nothing makes sense, its like trying to put a puzzle together!! and i cant .
so im waiting . the only song i listened to more than once was Crawl, coz i was majorly excited.
ooh and sex on fire -- there's this reallyyyyyyyyyy familiar geetar riff in the background! like, maybe they decided to replicate it, from another song they've already put on BOTT or something.. i can't put my finger on it... MAYBE its The Killers 'when you were young'.we'll see..gah!! trying to figure it out is gonna do my head in!
