Ok so O-Dusty is gone and HappyAlone.com is gone, we are just left with the happyalonedotcom forum.
I am very very interested in creating a new fansite with all the info on it that we need, basically, just like the KOL official site but with more detail, more up-to-date and with this forum on it!
Can anyone suggest my best course of action?
Should I just set up a blogger account and do it through that or will I have to start up a website that costs money to initiate etc? Or is there a better, free way of doing this?

Keeps coming up as a health site and one of the mods said they weren't updating it or anything.

Oh nooo! As long as this stays i think i'll make it through. I'd love to be able to help you with a new site and what not, but it's not my strong point! I'm pretty sure someone will be up for it though.

I'm going to try to set up a site within one of those free web hosting sites, I'll probably be best just to link to this forum instead of creating a brand new forum on the new site...

I think I'm going to set-up the page on Blogger, it looks like the easiest host to use and I have a friend who is good at website design so we are going to develop a new fan site, think it's going to be called Slow-Night-So-Long.com so it might take a couple of weeks to get it up and running as we have a few ideas that aren't going to be easy to manifest and we need to gather a lot of content. If anyone has anything they can provide to help us we would really appreciate it! Cheers, Jonathan88 PS I'm particularly looking for SETLISTS, LIVE PICTURES, THE BEST YOUTUBE VIDEOS and QUOTES. I'm going to include a forum on the new site but I'm also going to provide a pretty obvious link to this board

I'll try and find the link... happyalone.proboards47.com/index.cgi?board=band&action=display&thread=6563

I think I'm going to set-up the page on Blogger Noooo! Don't use Blogger. Its alright for basic stuff but Kings of Leon need a fully fledged bells and whistles site. They need something like the Radiohead fansite Ateaseweb.com. I would use Wordpress as it is a great platform to build a site on. I'm a pro web designer and am willing to give lots of help. I was looking for a site that could provide KOL news to my RSS feed among other things but just don't have the time to set one up on my own. I would lose the dashes from your url as well if you haven't registered it already. It makes it easier to type and to find.

I agree with skillen, you should use Wordpress.
I know I'm new here but I would love to help with the content !

Ok first of all thanks everyone for getting in touch and taking an interest!
If we have a few people working on this in whatever way they can, we can make it a great fansite!
I'm still trying to come up with a name so if people could send me some suggestions that would be great!
I'd like it to be a song title or lyric from the first album, ideally! For example...Red Morning Light.com or Holy Roller Novocaine.com etc etc
Last night I came up with a couple of ideas for the content of the site and the look of it too...
My friend is going to make a flash menu where the KOL drumkit will be in the middle of the page and when you move over a piece of the kit it will be played, then when you click different pieces they take you to different areas of the site.
Such as:
Back Catalogue Band Members Videos Gigs Photo's Forum
I'm not sure if that idea will work or even happen but thats the kinda thing we are going for, a flash menu. So would it be possible to do that on wordpress?

I just realised that to use Wordpress you need a host...so it's gonna cost money and I'm not good for that at the moment!

I'm considering the possibilty of hosting it on one of my servers, it may cause to much server lag though if it becomes popular, so may need its own server. There are some great deals that pop up occasionally, last year I got a years worth of hosting for $10 in one offer! I would stay away from flash menu if I were you, they cause problems with search engines and are more trouble than they are worth with users. By all means make the site look funky though and use flash in the right places, a great example is www.thechemicalbrothers.com for great interactivity. But to answer your question yes the flash menu is possible on wordpress.

ok so avoid a flash menu, thats cool. Just have a basic menu with buttons then?
So can I build the site on word press and then get a host? Or will I need a host before anything can be done at all?
