You should start it on a bloggig website like blogger/blogspot/livejournal (my personal favourite) and then just update with the latest images/songs etc that you have found. The great thing about livejournal is that you tag things etc so a user can find song links/images that were posted months ago via an archive. If you want to actually start a website though I recommend you make it on frontpage or something, even piczo! and then get a domain. Or you can make it and upload it on geocities/tripod somehting like that. I would be happy to help if you needed any I've made a few websites in my time  |

I think I need a lot of help lol
My friend should be able to make it look nice and everything and I know everything that I'm wanting to include in terms of content, the main problem I have is where to set it up.
If I could I'd set up a proper domain name and get a host or whatever and pay the however much it is a month but I can't do that currently! If I could at least start something and if it becomes popular over time then I'd obviously look to upgrade onto a proper website platform.
So a blog type website looks like the best bet at the moment...

Yeah, on livejournal you get a simple account at first and then you can make it a paid account which gives you more options. Blogspot is good too, and insanejournal. You'll jus have to decide which one you want to try! I'll look forward to seeing the final result |

You'd need a host I believe something that will run php. You can set up a host server on your own computer but this can be difficult if you don't know what your doing.
I tell you what, I can set up a wordpress blog on my own server and give you access to that. I don't know how much the latest version will let you edit the code but I can imagine it's quite flexible. Just the basic install will give you what Blogger can give you and it's just a case of customising from there.
I haven't got the time to do it today, but may have some time to do it over the weekend.
PS Don't worry about lack of knowledge, if everyone knew how to code websites I'd be out of a job!

Ok I like the idea of wordpress it seems to be a good set-up etc.

Yeah sure, as I said before I really wanted to see a fansite that did justice to kings of leon so any help I can give is great. I just think Kings of Leon need a really good site.

Spot on, thats what its all about, if we can get a fansite up and running that can be an actual stopping point for KOL fans round the world to read up on everything about the band as well as contribute what they have then it would be great!

from those i liked better the slownightsolong.com and pistoloffire.com. but maybe you could come up with a name from the first album because the names of other fan sites were taken fron YAYM, like dusty and happy alone.

I like holyrollernovocaine.com but feel it might be a bit of a pain to type in for users. I'll go with the others and say slownightsolong.com is looking promising. I think I will have the time on tuesday to get those wordpress details to you. Had internet connection problems over the weekend but they should be all sorted now. |

Hey, don't know if this idea ever came to fruition. I'd been lokking forever for a kol fansite and could never find one so I started my own. I don't know anything about html but wordpress makes everything easy. It's in it's baby stages but I intend to try to put everything I possible can on there. They really need a good fansite! So check it out: www.kolfans.com. If anyone has any ideas, videos, pictures, any information whatsoever they think should be on there, let me know! I have a ton of videos, but not enough pictures and I'm always looking for more. |
