Hey guys, We've got some sad news about good ol' O Dusty!  As some of you might know, Buck - who created and ran O Dusty! and archived all the media and images that KOL fans enjoy - lost her love of the Kings some time ago. About four months ago, she decided to leave O Dusty! completely. She handed the keys to the website, the myspace and the Buckyboo Multiply over to me (Jay) and Fiberglassdress (longblacktrain on HA). We've been running it since then, along with other mods including Ruby, Keely and Nadius. We love it - it's definitely the best-looking Kings website ever, and Buck created an atmosphere that made us comfortable. So although some of us post on HA, O Dusty! is our home. But having put so much of her time and work into O Dusty!, Buck doesn't want it to remain up anymore now that she is not a KOL fan. So this weekend she gave us a one-week notice period: O Dusty is goin' down Some of you might have noticed that Buck has already disabled the Images gallery. This weekend the website and the Buckyboo Multiply will also be deleted. I'll get a new Multiply up soon so that all the media isn't lost, but this will take time. We'll keep the O Dusty! myspace going. Anyway, just wanted to let you know, since a lot of you use O Dusty! and some of you drop in to the forum now and then. Come over and say hi during our last week if you feel like it! We might be seeing more of you here from now on. if you spot some lonesome refugees who need to huddle in an O Dusty! thread on HA for a while, please be nice - we're in mourning!  Jay xxx |

Soooo sad! Thank you everyone for all that you've done though. I think it's obvious how great the site was from the fact that all of us know about it and source vast amounts of stuff from it! O Dusty will be missed! |

i understand that tastes change and everything. but why does buckyboo have to delete her multiply acount?! i mean...*cough* it's my home website when i start my computer I think its because she wants nothing to do with the Kings, she does not care for them in the least anymore. She doesn't want to give them the free press of the multiply account and the site. Thats helping them and shes fed up with that. She doesn't want to help them gain popularity anymore...and thats what her site and multiply account are doing. But thats just a guess. |

Thanks guys, I know the site will be missed And yeah, I think Tori explained Buck's reasons for closing the Multiply as far as we understand it. I plan to keep a Multiply resource going because it would be awful for all that media to just disappear. But I can understand Buck not wanting her name on it, or anything to do with it. Thing is, she has sourced so much Kings stuff over the years that there's no getting away from the fact that a lot of the stuff that will keep internet fans coming to the Kings is due to her ....jeez, it sounds like I'm writing an obituary!  Sorry Buck! Ncox (Nicole?), don't worry, there's no deep and dark secret as to why the Kings pissed her off so badly. It was a culmination of little things that overall added up to a lack of appreciation, and it just pissed her right off! She just didn't really respect them much as people by the end of it. And musically she preferred their earlier stuff, so the music was no longer enough to make up for the rest of it. |

Yeah, I don't really get it. I mean, I read all the stuff she wrote before, the threads, her blog etc. And fair enough they didn't give her enough thanks. But I agree with Noxy, there must be more. I'm very upset about the multiply going, that was a Kings haven! I can't be angry at the Kings really as I don't know what they did really...

Yeah, nothing massive like a huge shoot down with Caleb or anything. It just got old to her after a while...and the more she thinks about it the less she wants to be a part of the whole KOLdom that she helped create.

Wow this is truly sad news but I can't say that I didn't see it coming.
I respect Buck's decision and thank you to all who kept ODusty up for a little bit longer.
I think the Kings will one day realize what they've done and regret it. I really do beleive that.
I have another question for Jay and Fiberglassdress- Does this mean you guys will be "regulars" here on Happy Alone?

Ha ha, no, there was no shoot-out between Buck and Caleb. But Tori, we can't deny that we all fantasised about just that many a time: Buck and Caleb, shoot-out at dawn - you just KNOW who woulda won too!!!   I have another question for Jay and Fiberglassdress- Does this mean you guys will be "regulars" here on Happy Alone? Well, I post here pretty regularly these days anyway. I dunno - we're all a little panicky at the idea of our cosy little home shutting down. And HA is quite sprawling and stuff. I'm a neat-freak and the O Dusty! threads are all quite organised, so if we all moved over here we'd have the mops and feather dusters out and we'd annoy everyone within minutes!! |

it's true, the HA mods are hardly around here so everything is scattered and just a MESS! i actually love it like that but I can see how it can get annoying.
