After hearing them on the MTV awards, I felt the need to bump this thread!!
To me, a lead singer makes the band. You can have the best songs in the world, but if the singer doesn't have a unique, distinctive voice or put feelings and emotion into a song, you'll never last.
I was just thinking about lead singers who've withstood the test of time - Mick Jagger, Bono, Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, etc. - and they are all so unique....I think Caleb's in that league. I think he's one of the best singers I've ever heard.

I would agree with the above and add that I have never heard a voice like Caleb's - it's so unique, powerful, SEXY and full of passion.
He sings like his life depends on it - that is why he is the best singer out there, male or female, FULL STOP.

^ Without a doubt! I love the character he has with his voice, almost like a personification of the words, he gets you to really feel the song. I was just listening to Sex on Fire and how he sounds almost like he's wrestling with the words as he says them. Not out of shyness, as if he doesn't know whether to say them or not but instead like he's actually having some sort of tug of war match with them! That sounds mad but that's the kind of thing i mean with how he can place the character there, plus sometimes it's really funny, i dunno intentionally or not but he's so fab, i just admire how he does that. They say great writers make words come alive and he does that when he sings!! i love it x

I love his vocals on YAYM, his voice sounds deeper and Nathan like. Brilliant!
Mumbled and slurred makes an excellent concoction!

He's got a very memorable voice. Absolutely beautiful. Even though my dad only knows about two songs by KOL he recognizes his voice when they're playing their songs on the radio.

I'm not one to say if he has the best vocal in the world, but I know he has the best vocal I personally heard and I am having a hard time imagining a voice better than his - a very hard time.

His voice is amazing. On the live DVD you'd hardly know it wasn't the record, absolutely perfect.

Caleb does have a great voice. Another guy who kind of sounds a little like him is the lead singer of a band called Love Crushed Velvet. The singer goes by A.L.X. Anybody heard of him? He's a little older than KOL, but there are definitely some similarities.

I like this thread I like that in the 10 pages (yes, I read them all. Procrasinate - me? ) people have complimented just about every song they've ever done. I like how flawless he can be, but I think my favourite bits are when he sounds like he's trying really hard. There's the occasional moment (eg "cold cold sailor heart") when it almost goes pear-shaped. Lesser mortals would screw it up, but not Our Man.

And Caleb's voice in general, it's very unique, nobody has a similar voice.

What's is coming music? Is that like, music so good, you could equate it with an orgasm? That would totally define KOL, and Caleb's voice. Sorry if that was a bit crass.

i know it's calebs vocal appreciation thread... ...but is it just me or did his live vocals get worse over the last weeks? i haven't seen them live lately it's just what i hear in fan videos from their recent shows. calebs voice sound so sloppy sometimes and i don't like the way he sings "black thumbnail" nowadays. it sounds too guttural sometimes
