"Mookie, did the PJ folks give you a Tampa setlist? I've only got WPB. "I didnt get an actual copy of the setlist, but I was at both shows and the only difference was they swapped out Charmer in Tampa and instead played "Manhattan". I wasnt dissapointed by this move LOL.. Other than that, they played the same setlist both nights. You hate Charmer too? I love you Mookie.

[quote author=lauralimonada board=kings thread=6352 post=231814 But the truth is music is attached to memory so maybe we yearn not for KOL songs of the past but what they represent, like a certain time period in our lives. That's just my thought. [/quote] So true. I was thinking about this earlier. I'm sad to say guys, that this new atmospheric sound just doesn't do anything for me If the whole of the album is like this then I won't be buying it. This certainly isn't a bitter post though, I really respect the guys for growing musically and adapting their style but it's just not the 3 minute slap in the face I so used to love from the likes of Molly's Chamber, Wasted Time, Four Kicks, Red Morning Light ect..... I guess my musical taste and KOL was a match made in heaven between 2004-2007. Sadly it was always unlikely that all their music would always be the ignition for the fire in my belly. Maybe I'm being premature and they are going to have some really down and dirty rocking out bluesy tracks on it, but I'm not hopeful

I agree with what your saying about them growing musically. But I agree with the others in them missing the old Kings, it's not the same just listening to it. The whole unique image isn't there anymore, and you can't just look at a picture and imagine they still look that way. Saying that, it's so interesting to have seen them grow as a band the way they have. I don't agree with the lyrics getting better. The old ones were more creative, these ones just seem more heart-felt, so I think they're just different. Either way, as much as I sometimes wish they were as individual as they used to be, I love them the way they are, and as much as I always have!!

I think I'm gonna save all general judgements about the band until thealbum comes out. As of right now, I can only judge the new songs neither of which sucks. I prefer the slower one, whatever it may be called, Manhattan/Cold Desert. But they're both quality songs

I still think KOL are just as good and they are still my favourite band, but I just wish that they should've gone in a different direction rather than a "rock" one, I like the raw sounds of Calebs voice and the way he doesn't always hit the spot, the way you couldn't understand his indistinguishable screams. I just miss that, but now they have a new style and it's just as good, but in a different way.

I agree ^^ I don't know which I prefer, the older stuff or the newer stuff. I mean I like stuff about both of them so much I can't choose. It's almost like a new band, but just as awesome.
I'm glad they're changing though. As many have said before, if they made Y&YM or ASH 4 times then we'd all be complaining that it's too similar.

I think the more i listen Manhattan or cold desert i do like it but it doesnt come across like an instant single more like an album track, Im a bit dissapointed in Crawl i dont really know what to make of it but then i was exactly the same when they released on call, i thought what the feck is this?? this isnt KOL! and i instantly disliked it then it grew on me and i just loved it so hopefully the same will happen with this.
Theyre new stuff just doesnt give me that instant 'thats amazing' vibe like i had when they released the Bucket or Mollys Chambers but as people have said we would be complaining if they released 4 YYM or ASH albums.

who said anything about the lyrics getting better? i said better songwriters... which doesnt only mean lyrics.. Umm, I'm a bit confused. When you write a song, it turns into the lyrics of a song. And what I am saying is that I don't think they are better song writers, they have just changed.
