My friends are sort of split into two different groups there's the Led Zeppelin, nirvana, KOL, guns n roses etc etc fans and there's the Hoosiers, Editors, Cascada etc etc fans I had never really been a big fan of either music, I was more in betweeny So one day after being uptown shopping in Edinburgh one of my friends let me borrow BOTT, it was a really sunny day so i just lay out in the garden and listened from the album start to finish I didn't think they were anything special at first but then they started to grow on me. After loving BOTT so much i went out and bought YAYM and ASH. and thats why I'm here right now.

Well, i always knew of KOL as my dad & sisters were fans (HA, my dad, how embarressing!) But i never really payed much attension to music, as i was like, 10! but then i remember hearing the bucket and seeing the lush lads when i was about 11, & my sister told me who they were, & i couldnt believe it, as they looked & sounded so diff! lmao. So i got into them quite abit, & when BOTT came out, i fell in absolute love can't wait till Only by the night !

sometime last year my friend goes hey come to kings of leon with me and i was like wtf is that? and shes like look i've got no one to come with just come, and seeing as i was completely rich at this time and could afford to spend money on tickets i went. we got there at 6am. we were the first ones there. i knew 3 songs. fans. milk. and trani... so here we were aaaaall day long, flashing our tits to passers by for entertainment. then we finally got in. front row of the mosh pit. i had three obeese middle aged women next to me who looked like they were about to cream in their jeans or die from anxiety, they had some massive anger management issues too and kept swearing at me to fuck off etc and pushing me... ummm can anyone say WTF?? 3 45 year old fattys at KOL?? then the warm up band came and went.. you could hear crickets.. everyone was like mmm ok we paid for kings can you please fuck off now.. and then they came. and i died. best thing i've ever seen ever, this coming from me who knew three songs, had 3 fat chicks punching me all night AND some chick who was fucked off drugs and pretty much molested me the entire time... EVEN STILL the best night of my life.

Since this thread seems to have ended on a sour note, i've decided to bring it back up on a happier note Well, last year I was talking to my friend about music and I asked him his favorite band at the mo. and he said Kings Of Leon. and i was all: Oh i've only heard Sex On Fire! Are they good? (yes, i have slapped myself countless times for this) but i was head over heels in love with The Beatles (still am) and wasn't listening to much besides them. and he told me how the new album was good and how i should check them out. Sooo, i did and heard On Call and Charmer and thought they were pretty good and thought Caleb's voice was amazing but I left em alone. And I had seen Jared before and i thought he was haha! A couple of weeks later, i was in Rite-Aid with my friend and Use Somebody came on and immediately recognised the voice. So when i got home, i looked up the video for US and in the related videos there were more so I listened, fell in love and watched the home videos. I learned more about them and found YAYM and loved the music and the look and i knew they were different and original and that they were becoming my favorite band. I hate that it took so long for me to know who they were and that i was missing out on all this great music, but i pretty much had shite music taste before The Beatles the first pic i saw of em ever was one from the blue laundry photoshoot, the one where they're all kinda looking down at the camera. I thought they were strangely cool looking. haha! well this was an essay!

^ better late than never! My first exposure to these guys was my 15th birthday (3 and a bit years ago), before which I had a TERRIBLE taste in music (the Kelly Clarkson and James Blunt records sitting under my bed will confirm this...). Anyway, I had a bit of a birthday get-together thing, but my friend had just got back from overseas and didn't have time to shop for a present for me, so she burnt me some CDS of her favourite songs. There were 3 - "love songs", "sleepy songs" and one simply called "enjoy", and they contained songs by Interpol, Sneaker Pimps, Cat Power, the Dandy Warhols and many others. (She's the BIGGEST Radiohead fan, so there was lots of them there - I also have her to thank for my love of them.) On "Sleepy Songs" was Milk (which I initially found really boring and wierd - how could I??) and the "enjoy" CD had Soft and Taper Jean Girl on it. Thus, Taper was the first Kings song I ever heard. And the rest, as they say, is history! I quickly bough Aha, then YAYM. I neglected them for a while (sadly), then On Call started to be played on the radio, and I bought BOTT. I swear I have NEVER loved a CD as much as I love that one. That's when I started to read interviews and articles about them, taking in all I could. And now here I am!! So really, I can thank KoL (and my friend) for not only introducing me to their music, but also to the whole rock genre, and all the bands I love today!! And I don't know where I'd be without good music - as I'm sure everyone here knows, it can affect your life enourmously and get you through some real shite. (Hahaha I ended up writing an essay too... )

I think the first time I experienced KoL was when I was about 8 or 9 and my brothers and I were flicking through the music channels on Sky and Molly's Chambers was on and we all loved it. (I thought they were some old band from the 70s, but then my brothers told they were new and just dressed that way ) It really wasn't till about two years ago when I really started listening to their albums, when BOTT came out.

When ASH came out, an ex BF ran into my house, grabbed me and physically dragged me to a CD player, and put on SOFT. I didnt love Soft, but i wanted to hear more--so I went on YourTube, and clicked on a random song, which was Happy Alone. And then I saw Caleb. And that was it. Quick and easy. It was the only band I've ever heard where I LOVED every song, without exception. And every song was a revelation. And nothing ever came close to KOL in magnitude of my love for them. (even OBTN didnt dampen my spirits )

The other day I found a compilation cd with Holy Roller Novocaine on it, so that must've been my first introduction but I totally don't recall. I do however remember hearing Molly's Chambers & Red Morning Light on the radio back in 2003 and reading their story. I liked the songs, but wasn't too sure about Caleb's voice and I thought he looked weird (I didn't even look past Caleb to notice the other guys). Over the years I kept liking the songs, but thinking I couldn't handle a full album of that voice.
Then came last year, Sex on Fire & Use Somebody. I thought they sounded different than before and definitely looked different too. I downloaded OBTN but didn't listen to it till months later, still thinking 10 or so songs with Caleb's voice would be too much. By that time the album was in the album chart though and I'd hear Notion, Cold Desert and Manhattan a lot, so I finally listened to the album.
I really liked it (didn't mind that voice at all!), so I looked more into the band, started lurking here, got the other albums and before you know it, I had me a new (shared) favourite band. I've yet to see them live, but that won't happen any time soon, because I despise big venues.

I am a Chelsea FC supporter and in some interview - end of '04/beginning '05 - Joe Cole mentioned the song 'California Waiting' and I was so curious about it that I had to google that song right away. Since then I'm in love with KoL! If I should meet Joe Cole some day, I'll say 'THANK YOU', cause just because of him I found the best band ever!

Mine is kind of a sport one too! I remember hearing Red Morning Light blaring from my brothers room on FIFA years ago and I thought it sounded cool but never checked out who the band actually was. But it was Munster Rugby that got me into them. At the end of a match in March 2008 they began playing Fans and my friend went crazy. She had always been talking about this band Kings of Leon but we have really different taste in music so i never bothered to check them out. But I fell in love with Fans. Searched for them on YouTube when i came home and found clips of the Hammersmith Apollo gig and that was it.

My mom and I have a weird tradition where she buys me a CD at the start of every summer. While we were out at the music store last year, I happened to find ASH and the cover really caught my attention so I took a look at it and decided I'd give it a try. I was curious to hear it since I had never heard of KOL before. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I spent all day listening to it and researching the band. That night I insisted we go back out so I could find the other albums and I've been in love ever since.

Well my dad actually introduced me to the Kings. Weird, right? I came home from my aunts house about a couple of weeks before my birthday (23rd July) in 2008 and my dad told me about this really great band he saw when he was watching a festival on tv. His words were "I watched Kings Of Leon yesterday and you have to see them. They're fucking good." and coming from my dad, that's a pretty high compliment. So I watched them and immediately fell in love with their music and look. After that night (possibly one of the best in my life: i'd just listened to my now all-time favourite band for the first time) i looked them up on google and spent all of the next day watching vids on youtube of previous performances. By then I was pretty obsessed, after only a day and a couple of days later i found this amazing place after looking at Matt's pics on t'internet. Before i got their albums and found HA i downloaded a couple of songs of the internet; the first one being Knocked Up: and I couldn't stop listening to them, especially Knocked Up. On my birthday list i requested all of their albums and have been so happy ever since. Sometimes i really love my dad's taste in music

I think the first time I ever heard about KOL was a good four years ago when I saw an ad for a music downloading website and it listed a bunch of bands like The Strokes, KOL, etc. all across it, but I never actually took interest in the band until last year. Early in September I listened to Sex On Fire for the first time and I thought it was great (and insanely catchy). A friend of mine had a bunch of their songs already, so I started listening to more of their stuff like that. And the home videos completely sucked me in. I went out and bought all of their cds (BOTT was particularly difficult to find for some reason) and the rest is history, as they are now my second favorite band My first KOL show was at Madison Square Garden and it was nothing short of amazing. I lined up pretty early for it and ended up in the very front, right in front of Caleb...and the barricade was oh, about a foot away from the stage. Okay, maybe more than a foot but it was still ridiculously close. And afterwards I waited around and met Jared That ended up being really long, sorry!
