Red morning light. When it was the soundtrack on one of the FIFA football games. i was like OOOHHHHH! Hooked ever since. haha i also know Red morning light from the FIFA game.. but i didn't really know the kings back then. I started to listen to their music in March i guess, right before BOTT came out. I saw them at Lowlands festival in August, first time i was them live & i can't wait for the next one i love them so much

Ever since I heard Four Kicks when it came out, I was obsessed with it so I went and bought Aha Shake Heartbreak cause of that one song and when I picked it up in the shop, I remember thinking 'what the hell is that on the cover?' Baffled me for ages. I was only about 13 though haha, good times. Shame I've never seen them live though I don't even think they've played near me actually..

A guy I liked, well my boyfriend now told me about them and so i knew a few songs... Then a month or so later I saw them on Jay Leno, and they were playing On Call and Caleb did this thing with his eyes (I hope I wasn't the only one that saw it).. that was my breaking point. I went out the next day and bought all three cd's, and I've seen them three times since February. I don't think the boyfriend knew I was gonna become really obsessed. He thinks I'm sick .

well i first heard of the band when aha shake heartbreak came out, so 2004. i read a very interesting article about them without ever listening to any song of them. so a couple of weeks later i installed fifa soccer game 04 on my computer and there was this song while loading periods (uuh, sorry for bad english here!) and i was like "who the hell is this?? this song kicks ass!!" so i started research and it turned out to be "red morning light" by kings of leon. i remembered that name and i read this article about them again and so my birthday present 2005 was aha shake heartbreak. my christmas present 2005 was youth and young manhood and my birthday present 2007 was ...tada! because of the times. i love this band and their music with all my heart!

Interesting to read that many of you got into the Kings from the 2nd album...
Bought NME and read about their debut album, got a good report and I was drawn to the album cover, so I popped out and bought it.

wow..how ironic...my grandma passed away yesterday! anyway, i shall speak of my first kol experience(s)..gosh that sounded shallow..the quick change of subject... i was in the 9th grade... so i wouldve been about 13-14 years old (im 16 now)... my oldest brother has had quite an influence on my music preferences, growing up and all... anyway, he use to drive me to school (he moved to london, so he doesnt drop me to skool anymore ).. we always had to listen to what HE WANTED to listen to... radio wise.. it was alwayssss JJJ (triple J).. on this station, they ALWAYSSS played, and i cant remember specifically, EITHER four kicks OR the bucket.. it was one of the two. so i heard it quite a few times, on this station (only station in sydney that doesnt play mainstream music)....i pictured, who i now know to be caleb followill, lol, to be an african american man, who played in a band..DONT ASK...lol, to my astonishment, a couple of yrs later i leaent he was a skinny white boy who had bangs!!! ahahahaha.. so my brother purchased ASH.. heres the story of how i met and fell in love with this album.. my brother insisted that we listen to his recent cd purchase on the way to school. put it into the cd player. he INSISTED i also take out the album booklet (which can be attributed to the fact caleb's lyrics cannot be understood on this album!).. he literally pumped up the volume, and made myself, with him, SING ALONG and DANCE to the songs.. i remember getting shy when it came to the swearing/rude lyrics... skipping over those parts haha... that morning i arrived to school... my friend vicky said to me: "rosey, were u in the car this morning with a guy, singing and carrying on to loud music, whilst holding a booklet in ur hand?!" *embarassment" "yes vicky, that was me and my brother..what did u see?" "i saw u and this guy dancing in the car...he was banging on the dashboard..my dad asked me if i knew u, coz u were in skool uniform like me... he shook his head at u guys" so yesm...that is how i fell in love... although, after that day i never listened to them again in year 10, i was watching channel v...they were playing big day out sets, and surely enough, kol was played... as soon as i laid my eyes on caleb (gosh im gonna sound like a groupie!), i fell in LOVE...ok LUST... he had his hair tied back in a pony tail and was wearing those tight blue jeans...he was unlike any guy i had ever seen.. so different to the men here in sydney, i can tell u that... after having a heart attack about how good looking he was, i under went extensive research in trying to find kol pics from BDO, and eventually downloaded like 2 KOL songs (forgetting i had ASH at home).. listened to the songs, listened to ASH, LOVEDDDD IT, purchased Y&YM and BOTT...im going to see them TWICE in january 2008 ...the obesession carried into year 11... my friends reckon i have weird taste in music (and men, i LOVE nathan u see haha).. but they have noooo ideaaa about what great music theyre missing out on... but i spose u cant just change a person's music taste quickly aye.. i mean they listen mostly to the crap on the radio.. i mean so i do... but i know better... funny how some people will just go thru life not knowing any better music...

It had to be the Bucket! I was livin in a new town, struggling a bit, but i had a friend who was so much fun and so good to me. she picked me up one rainy night to go to hers for some 'refreshments' and the Bucket played in her car over and over! I figured if she loved them, i should too. It reminds me of her and she's a great mate. Plus i think someone mentioned that it is on a Playstation Sing-Star compilation and we have sung it together so often! i missed my first gig as i got very drunk and fell asleep! Not cool! I have seen them 3 times since, t'will be 4 in December!

Can i just also say that those who have lost loved ones and went to gigs shortly after, your stories are moving and you should not feel bad about going - music helps me through everything - it's how i cope and i would not have missed those gigs either.

oh man, i feel like such a newbie. and in all honesty, my story is utterly pathetic. about 14 months ago, i found this photo slideshow thing of the strokes on youtube. as i was salivating to the pictures, i suddenly found myself as equally interested in the song. i'd heard it on the radio a few times before, but had never bothered to look into it. the description to the video noted that the song used was "the bucket" by some band, kings of leon. i got hold of the first two albums and immediately became obsessed. i would listen to them on repeat and kept urging my one friend with good music taste to listen, too. i learned a couple of months later that a third album was in the works, so my excitement grew with thoughts of an upcoming tour. essentially, kings of leon helped me through my first year iof living on my own and brought me to musical enlightenment.

I went to a gig from a local band that did covers (3 years ago, I think). At one point they played Red Morning Light and I immediately liked the song. It stuck in my head for days, so I searched for it on the internet and downloaded some other songs by the kings as well, which convinced me to buy ASH. I've been a fan ever since. I was pretty pleased with their sudden popularity in Belgium that started half a year ago, 'cause it gave me the opportunity to watch them play live.

i heard the ppl on the radio talking about this 'kinda' new band and they said they had a new song out and they kind of liked it so they were going to play it. it was the bucket. and i loved it! it was the first time it was EVER played on that radio station and i got to listen to it! haha!
but then a few days later i saw the video of it. at first i didnt noticed it was the same band and song and i thought they were like an oldies band being played on MTV. haha then i realized it was the 'radio' song!
but then i kinda stopped listening to them from about 2005 to 2007 until they came out with their latest album.
but i have had pics and posters of them hanging in my room since 2004.

December 2004. So the past couple of years 106.7 KROQ has been selling a calendar along with a compilation CD that features new music from both new and established artists. One of the songs on the 2004 CD was "Molly's Chambers", I couldn't stop listening to it!! It was one of the few songs that I continually put on repeat. But for some reason, don't ask me why, I didn't go buy YAYM. So a few months pass by and I'm watching MTV2 Rock Countdown and the video for "Four Kicks" is playing. Lets just say I was pretty much blown away!! Not just the song but the video were both AMAZING, sometimes if I see a video before hearing a song and it's a crappy vid I tend not to like the song, I don't know maybe that's just me. Anyways after seeing that video I had to buy Aha Shake Heartbreak right away. I loved every single song on ASH and decided that I should buy YAYM now too. And of course loved every song on that CD as well. Ever since then I have been a huge fan My first KOL show was in San Diego this past September. I was gonna go see them when they opened up for Bob Dylan in Long Beach a few months earlier, but I chickened out 'cause I didn't want to go by myself. Thankfully I was lucky enough to meet Laura and moonage after the San Diego show and we all got to meet Nathan and Jared!! Then when the Download festival came around we all decided to travel up to Mountain View, by bus, to see the guys again. We figured the Kings wouldn't be playing in Cali for a loooong time so we might as well see them before they finish up the American tour and head off overseas. That night I was able to get one of Nathan's drumsticks!!! But both nights were amazing and I will always hold dear the memories that moonage, Laura and I share, and hopefully many more to come. Sorry, don't mean to get cheesey lol.

i think i heard of them from my sister when she went and saw them in like 2003? idk one of their earlier years! and then i went and saw them june13 2007 and october 4 2007 again :] the first time was in colombus and the second time was in detroit. i came back the second time with bruised ribs since i was first row center and OF COURSE people jump and dance and i was pushed over the bar severallll times, but it was all worth it. both mind blowing expiriences, both i wouldnt trade for anything. they sound so great live, and are DAMN good looking :] i wish i coulda met them :/ but it was still amazing to get to see them live and there, and be first row both times! haha i love caleb's expressions and his litttle "dances" he does to some songs, or like the way he poses at certain parts. and i love the facial expressions jared makes while playing i met some sweet ass people at both concert, i mean, whats better then meeting someone and ALREADY knowing they love your fav. band too ? hahaha, but FREAL. KOL is the fucking shit. they are beyond grand.
