hey people, I decided to finally get registered in here I kinda 'found' KOL few weeks ago, addiction received instantly. This is slightly different than the music I've used to listen to before- metal, rock, but KOL and some other bands found their place in my playlist lately and still keep on pushing old fave's somewhere low Anyways, I'm orginally from Poland, but studying in Finland. I think in 2 yrs I move back to Poland. I wonder if there are any folks from Poland or Finland in here, I think not many- which is really sucky, as the chances for getting KOL gig in either, are low... I guess I need to come to US, UK or maybe NL. to see them. that's about it for now... greetings, axela

Welcome to the forum. I'm from the USA, but of Polish ancestry. Our family changed our name years ago, but when my great grandparents were in Poland our last name was Walderski. Hope you like it here.

hey, thank for your welcome myblackthumbnail: yep, most polish surnames are being changed with time, I can imagine it makes life lot simplier, my surname is stryczek (meaning sth like 'gallow' ) and everybody struggles with pronouncing it last week my boss was supposed to book plane tickets- guess what, he made a mistake in my surname alexa- sadly, not my name :/ my name is aneta, but this nickname- axela have been in use for ages now... dunno how it got to my head :/ maybe I liked axl rose when being like 8 yrs old, maybe I just like when 'a' stands close to 'x'

Welcome Axela! I hope the Kings will come to Poland or Finland any time soon, but they're not very popular over there, are they? Well, at least you know good music, so you'll fit right in here .

yello once more. to defend the fact I didn't get to become their fan earlier- as you know this type of music is not being the most popular :/ Europe is much more into pop, techno and hip hop. Finland is kinda special- many rock and metal listeners here. I think KOL is a bit like the strokes, the killers and so on- very special bands which try to take some good energ from the past and transform it into their new style, create sth new for the future. To be honest it is all good even EMO music is gettin more popular... I was a bit sick and tired of hip hop and r'n'b and pop rulling all media :/ the name Kings of Leon- I've heard long time ago, together with the info their dad was a preacher- I thought 'oh no' they'll be singing only about god... some time ago I was sitting at work, listening to music from youtube when I thought 'damn maybe listen something else from this new rock movement' I played 'McFearless'... no comments needed to express this something I felt at instant- addictive melody, this lovely, thrilling bass (yay I love bass guitar and bass players, my bf is playing bass) Caleb singing ... no comments needed here as well. The guys are also extremaly inspiring- I love to look at them, their style is wow! just very special guys mmmkaaaay I'm getting boring, beside I believe most of you share similar feelings when thinking of how it all have started I've found forum like a month ago and was visiting here ever since to read, to enjoy looking and photos and convincing myself I am not the only one who feels like a fan of KOL, yeaaa sir 22, pretending to be adult like but still not minding falling into some very interesting, positive band like Kings

Sovietkitsch- good to see KOL is getting some stronger position within Benelux countries but I always knew ppl are clever in there I've spend very nice 3 weeks in Antwerp region few years ago, last year I visited Amsterdam, but I wanna go back to Belgium too. Pity I cannot make masters degree in english in my field in there ;[

Dzien Dobry & Witaj!I'm pretty sure that's Polish..or I'm making it up..either way..hello! Hey youre in Finland? I had the weirdest encounter with a Finnish guy once..well several actually..he was in my class when I studied in Italy. It lead me to believe the Finnish were an odd people..and after watching their entry for the Eurovision songcontest..I was convinced.. I think everyone will agree. So are you liking it there? What made you decide to go there of all places? What are you studying? What did you think of Amsterdam? Yes. I am a curious girl. In both meanings.

yea lordi, can't take them too seriously... the funniest thing about finns is that everyone think they are so sad, depressive and shy people, actually they are kinda, but on the other hand they have big sense of humour, in their own way, huge load of irony, especially toward themselves, they just love ironic jokes about how they are sad, depressive, life sucks etc they say all these ironic remarks with completely serious expression on their face :DDD yep I know it's hard to explain, one would have to live here few years like me. and Amsterdam.... mmmmm I love it, I love that atmosphere of Netherlands, pretty much same in Belgium. in Amsterdam you have nice stores I love oud amsterdam cheese yep food, buildings, smell of pot everywhere but nah I'm not one of these people who come there just to visit the red light district and behave like a dork, or go to a coffee shop, I wouldn't mind living some time in Nl. still thinking of studying there, gotta write some mails to universities there I guess.

Hmm..now that you mention it..I do suppose the Finn I knew had a sense of humor like that..somewhere. I guess there was a language barrier. I didn't understand 89% of what he was saying. It was mostly awkward non-verbal communication.
I'm happy you are the kind of girl who appreciates cheese over pot and whores! I think the Netherlands is a good student country..but I think Belgium is even better. I'd prefer Belgium. I think the people are more gentle there. And the schools are more efficient.
What do you wanna study?

the thing is once I've had a course in here with a guy from Zwolle and he told me they don't offer masters deg programmes in english in belgium now I'm ending bachelor of business administration- international management gotta take masters now... anything, anywhere as long as there is not much math included :/ I wouldn't mind getting back to Poland, but since I've decided to do it outside pl. I is much wiser to make the whole thing in foreign countries... Finland is ok, but I hate this 6-month lasting winter :/ and I got also a bit sick and tired of this place. about finnish men- I've had one, we've been together for 3,5 yrs- thanksfully it's over now. now I have my bass-playing polish boy poor one decided to move to finland for me this year, i hope he'll survive this goddamn winter tho

What do you wanna study? Why thank you Seph. Could you tell the Kings that? 'Cause they're still pretty scared of us.. Today we had this woman who came over to our class to talk about our masters and bachelors for next year, 'cause we're in our last year of high school. I think I'm gonna go for a professional bachelor of journalism, not sure yet, in Ghent or in Antwerp. We'll see.. Hope your masters will work out fine!

Yok shi mash! Jane dobray! Yach ton vichi! Those are the only 3 things I know how to say in Polish. And because I don't know how to spell them, I'll translate: How are you? Good morning! and How's it hanging? (I'm 1/2 Polish).
And speaking about people from the Netherlands, I read a somewhere once that they are the most content people in the world because they have absolutely no expectations of anything ever good happening to them....so they're never disappointed! Honest...it was a scientific study!

it's funny to see many half poles, or ppl who's families come from Poland, well we may have almost 40mln in Poland but heavy millions outside as well, why do people live? maybe they are chasing some of their dreams, I know I'm happy there, but having no problems to leave it any time for some time, generally wanna come back- it's really not THAT bad place I just got heavily addicted to 'Milk'... damn I listen to their music but sometimes just one special tune within a song catches my ear and then I find the song once more, in a new unique way, I'm far too much in love with KOL music and although it may sound naive- the music speaks to me
