I haven't downloaded the new album and god help me i don't intend to either hehe. I like the element of surprise. I've heard 3 songs...On Call, Black Thumbnail & Charmer. I love Black Thumbnail, but i think Charmer is going to be a grower, although i have only listened to it once I will not listen to any more & my will power is still going strong

heey! I've been reading everyones thoughts, I just downloaded it ( i got too excited to wait for the real deal). I've really loved the live versions that I've heard the last couple of months, Arizona (great outro song) the excitment built up!! Then BT and MP, followed by On Call which I absolutley adored! Gives me goosebumps I do agree that on the first listen you like certain songs more than others, I guess the excitment of the long awaited album put it on a pedistal... and it can make you disappointed, the follow-up to ASH must be great, huh? really two different albums! Though now that I've listened to it a second time I feel more comfortbale with the new sound, Fans and Knocked Up suprised me and the others are growing on me. Bring the album down to earth and maybe you'll enjoy, it just needs a good time and place /C

Oh god KOL, very disappointing. Sounds very generic in areas similar to say bloc party/the strokes or even U2 in parts (the supporting tour prob didn't help there). What happened to the retro garage rock sound of youth and young manhood...you've been traveling too much listening to shit on the radio; you need another 20 years back in Nashville listening to some 60s/70s music before you write another album. I was never overly impressed with Aha Shake Heartbreak but there was a good 5 or so songs on it which were really good/amazing to carry it (FOUR KICKS, pistol of fire, razz, king of the rodeo, velvet snow etc). I was always a bit concerned about your direction after hearing songs like the bucket...its just such a weak song compared to anything off Y&YMH.
This new album is mostly trash, with non of the really cool hooky solo riffs of the original album. I think ill skip your tour this time as you'll no doubt play 60%+ this album. Do yourself a favour...stop "trying to find your sound", you already did with Y&YMH.

electricrussia...complex...c'mon in a good way...I like the whole 13 songs that someone put on the web...for me the best songs-->McFearless...Charmer...Black Thumbnail...and AZ but all the 13 songs have a uniqe touch I think...for example the solo drum in McFearless...Is like a good transition for the melody...and for the band...they are trying new things -musical speaking (but with the same vintage kind of vibe)...I don't know is just my opinion...bye and I respect your opinion

Camaro is amazing like every other song, if you are a true Kings Of Leon fan then you will love every second of every song on every album. I dont even think they have one bad song. Now that's just a little bit idealistic. I "true fan" will appreciate the songs, but will also be able to look at them critically.

I agree with the poster...this album is shite...refer to my post on the "what KOL song do you NOT like" thread.
Whoever said "if you're a real KOL fan you have to like all of it" is a moron.
Up until yesterday when I heard this album I respected this band for being unique in this time of garbage music with your Panic at the Discos and Nicklebacks. This album is so over-produced, boring, tired, and plain t's hard to stomach.
I'd even go as far as to say that anyone who actually claimed to like this band would think this album is subpar. Just because you are a fan of a band doesn't mean you have to be all over their nuts even when they suck. I will continue to be a fan of this band, blast their music, and share it with other people, but i will NOT embrace or share the new CD. I will tell people to check out the older, raw music that actually had some soul and life in it.
Nuts to this GENERIC album.

i DO NOT agree!!! i think the new album is brilliant!!! it's like nothing i've ever heard in my life. as far as being generic, come on!!! if it's not a cheap copy of something else, then it's not generic by definition. the music on "knocked up" is unreal!! some of these songs are just genius.... i'm not a bandwagon kind of gal, never have been, so i dont like an album just b/c i love a band (i.e. first impressions of earth by the strokes). but seriously, it's a risky KOL took and i think it's fantastic!! i dont think they are still trying to "find their sound", i think that musicians change and evolve. if you expect a band to make an album that recreates any of their past albums, then you're deluded!! new, different, brilliant!

Come people, some of your posts sound really harsh, to call and album that KOL worked hard for shit, is a bit brash, don't you think I understand and know that the new album sound different from the previous two, but there still elements of their "older stuff" in there. Their allowed to change and experiment their musicians for god sake!, and not all experiments go right, but they have to try something new in order to change and improve, thats how people progress in life, if they hadn't done this "new sound" then how were they supposed to know if it was going to sound good or bad. Well now they have tried it, they can move on again. I'm pretty sure that if they produced the same sound as the first 2 albums that people would still moan that they haven't grow musically or that their lyrical content is "shallow", basically its a "catch 22" situation. Personally i don't think its bad, but its not good either.... its different and i suppose we have to get use to that, but as a fan, (and i know we all are in here) i did like their raw "mucky" edge, and i just hope that they don't isolate their hard core fan base, who have supported them from the beginning, and build up a new one, who probably would not necessarily appreciate their older stuff.. the kind of people who just "jump on the Bandwagon", that would really PISS me off.
