I know I've heard it before, and Im dying to hear it again. In this most recent leg of the Kings tour, they have played this Amadeus-like music before their entrance to the stage. Can anyone tell me who the composer is and/or the title of the piece. It was familiar to me before the Kings used it, I've been racking my brain to remember how I know it. If you could help I would be eternally grateful.

I believe it's from Mozart's requiem.

The NPR broadcast said it was Mozarts Requiem... it is quite scary.... I can't remember if they played it before they came on in the west coast...

Sorry *zips up Anorak* but does anyone know which bit of Mozarts Requiem it is? Sorry its just I know the Requiem very well and I'm intrigued. Just thinking I'd bet my rent money on it being Rex tremendae.
Rex tremedae Majestasis (King of Fearful majesty) Qui Salvados Salvis gratis (Who grants salvation to those to be saved) Salve me, fons pietatis(save me fount of mercy)
Wow I'd forgoten how hard this is to listen to cos I have to conduct and sing while listening to the cd which is exhausting in the fast movements.
Thogh if I was them Id so come on to Zadok the Priest by Handel.

I'm gutted, I'd have lost my rent on that one, It's the Lacrimosa(If anyone wants it) Lacrimosa, dies illa (Tearful, that day) qua resurget ex favilla(on which shall rise from the ash) judicandus homo regus (guilty man to be juged) Huic ergo Parce, Deus (Therfore O God, spare this man) Pie Jesu Domine (O merciful Lord Jesus,) Dona Eis requiem. Amen (grant them rest. amen)

I think it's very very cool. It's very dramatic actually isn't it? Why didn't they have it in the uk i would have loved to have seen them walk on to that music. It's very very effective i think, almost menacing.

Yeah, seriously if no one has ever heard this entire opera, buy, download, rent the Amadeus double disc. Its one of my most favorite indulgences. I though it was genius of the boys to chose that as their entrance, to present themselves in a grand manor with towering music is fabulous. I love it. Even if it doesn't represent that, the music is brilliant.

Its an intresting piece to chose as it was allegedly Mozarts last ever piece in the linear notes of the Album it says that the first 8 bars were written by Motzart then compleated by Sussmayer after his death. He poped his clogs writeing judicandus homo regus (guilty man to be juged). Though I will say on the subject of the film Amadeus bits of it need to be taken with a big heap of salt.

I absolutely love when bands play entrance music...it just sets the mood and is representive of how seriously they take thier music. I like thier selection because its not what you might expect from them...they keep us guessing, and I don't know about you, but I like it! I like wondering what they'll put out of the hat next.
The black crowes used to do a indian tribal chant in the beginning of thier 2000-01 tour and it just pumped up the whole audience and got everyone real stoked for the show...

hahaha I like you too!!!
ugh, I'm so upset cause I put off buying my tickets to ACL and now all of the three day passes are gone (I went last year). I can still buy individual day passes and in a sense, still have a three day pass... but I don't know. there are a couple of bands that I really want to see (like bloc party, arcade fire etc.) but the only band that I will absolutely kick myself if I don't see is the black crowes. and it turns out they're coming to Dallas (that's where I'm from) a couple of days before ACL. so I'm thinking about putting the money from the ACL tickets towards getting really good seats at that show.
DID YOU GET TO SEE THEM WITH TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS. omg, I bet you so did. I'm so jealous, I would absolutely have killed to see one of those shows.

Indeed I did! Tom Petty and Black Crowes in one night is just heaven...what to hear a story about KOL and the black crowes?
here goes:
I was on the black crowes message board (www.amorica.org) a while back and there was a thread for Kings of Leon. Apparently someone on the board had the pleasure of hanging out with the Kings while playing some pool. The dude said that he offered to smoke the kings out to which nathan replied "Only if its the stickiest of ickies" hahah! Anyway the dude smoked them out and than caleb and nathan gave him some of thier herb in return (which is way cool) anyhow...he said that nathan and caleb told him a story about them meeting Rich and Chris Robinson in LA and went back to Kate's house (Chris' wife's house, who is better known as Kate Hudson, aka Goldie Hawn's daughter) and all got baked out of their minds. Caleb and Nathan said that Rich and Chris were soo stoned on one of the couches; that they burned a hole in one of the couch cushions.
Who knows if its true...but I thought it would be a cool story to hear if you like KOL and Black Crowes. Hope you enjoyed... If i were you I would go to ACL...arcade fire is soo soo good!

So, I've been blasting the Amadeus soundtrack for the past week now, and Im floating. It's such perfection. There was such brilliance in the selection for their theme, and I really truly appreciate that they're the real deal of music aficionado's. Exploring greater genres, and exposing them as your theme entrance...no other music could have been a better choice. Lacrymosa is the best part of Requiem and I love that they love it, and that many other people here, LOVE it.
