Mine would have to be the lines in Talahina Sky "Well everyone says this place is beautiful, and you'd be so crazy to say good bye, but everythings the same this place is pitiful, and i'll be getting out as soon as i can fly"
The rhyming in that is just perfect, and it captures the emotion so clearly.
My other one is from Milk "we drank wine in the matinee and the spotlight showed what i chased away"
For some reason it just paints such a picture for me.
Im sure there are more, thats why you guys need to post your favorites.

i love that lines too! they´re so beautiful. "talahina sky" always makes me feel kinda sad or something, i don´t know, in its beauty it´s so melancholic that i could cry every time i listen to it.

i love those lines - that song makes me cry every time i listen to it.. i remember day after i met kings i was coming back on the train and i was listening to that and for some reason it made me cry, i was really emotional hehe!
I love 'uncover your head and submit me, we'll make a joyful sound' just because i think it's really clever.. and i love the opening line of holy roller.. the way he sings it is as if he's the guy you know?
and.. 'only bringing what to carry on, so that you know i won't be long'
and 'dripping beards' sounds really poetic even though it probably isn't hehe.
and i like 'he's so the purity, a shaven and a mourning'.. don't ask me why!

This is my first time posting here... I'm totally psyched!
Anyways - I've always adored:
"She's a lovin' on a boy from the cité... I'll be lovin' him under ma shoe!"
and I totally love:
"People can be so cold when they're dead!"
Caleb has a rare talent for coming up with lines... or ways to twist lines around to make them sound as if you've never heard anything like it before. That's what makes this band so unique ... Caleb's writing.

yes, its another line from milk 'I called and called, but I can't get through, said he's on his own, but his own is you' ...the rhythm of that line sounds sooooooo good with Caleb's voice! 'it's been too long since I left the shed, you kick the bucket and I'll swing my legs'....always loved that line ...last one i promise 'Hey, you know it ain't coincidental that you're lost in place, it's drippin' off your face, and you're losin' your precious mind ' whoop whoop!

"Rise and shine all you gold-diggin mothers, are you too good to tango with the poor poor boys"
now that's brilliant!
and of course this heartbreaking piece:
"You laugh at nothin' in the pouring rain Try to tell yourself you're not insane You fool, I hate you sometimes"
the pain in Caleb's voice! it just kills me every time!

"Rise and shine all you gold-diggin mothers, are you too good to tango with the poor poor boys" yeah that's my favorite part of the whole album! and this isn't poetic but i love it on molly's hangover when he says "miss chambers gonna change your mind."

I've got a lot of favorites....so bear with me:
-slow night so long: "she's 17 but I done went and plum forgot it" (more ironic than anything) and then I love this because it's so real, so honest: "she's opened up just like she really knows me, I hate her face but enjoy the company."
-joe's head: "lingering supsicions screaming in my head, lies all mixed up with omissions, aw welcome home again."
I also really really like the lyrics to dusty. and even though it doesn't necessarily sound poetric, I think the lyrics to red morning light are brilliant.

i love the part in re-memo when he says 'it's personal but they need to know' it makes you feel sorry for them ...but my favourite bit to sing out loud when im listening to my i pod is "I can't get alone in my bathroom I need to give myself a hand" oh the looks that i get ...priceless

you must all agree that THE MOST poetic lines are in HAppy Alone....
"...BLOOMING FLOWERS WALTZ BEFORE ME"..... how lovely is that...
and how can u leave out:
"...ALL WRAPPED UP IN BEING 19, CHASING STARS THAT ARE FALLING"
.... ahhhh beautiful.... the boy has an old soul.
i'd be happy to sit in a literature class discussing these songs.

i love so many of his lyrics, they´re all beautiful in their own way. "In the morning all will see, just how crazy young love can be" is one of the lines which make me smile everytime i listen to them cause it´s just so true that young love is crazy. "It´s your life don´t you let em tell you when to bat your eyes" love that line cause it´s so honest if you know what i mean. it´s all about being yourself. "At least there´s a record that i love to play, dreaming about a place i´ll never see" i always feel so sad when i listen to day old blues, don´t know why, but that line is really special to me cause i feel like that so often. and the lyrics of soft are so great, "you try to drag me into your bohemian dancing you paint my fingers and you paint my toes you let your perfect nipple show" i have to sing along everytime i listen to it. sorry that my post is so long.
