True, but damn I'm a sucker for that solo haha Tell me about it! Are you a guitar player too? If so, have you attempted playing this solo yet? Curious because I can't seem to get it right... I'm missing something... may be effects, idk

Yeah, he is an extremely underrated guitarist. It's a shame... Nathan also probably doesn't get the credit he deserves in the drum world...

I have listened to album around 8-9 times now. Obviously with each listen, I'm hearing more and more of each song. So far the ones that stuck out are "don't matter" "beautiful war" "wait for me" "tonight" "on the chin" "comeback story" I know all won't agree, but there isn't a bad song top to bottom. It flows right. The guys really brought it home with this one. I'm just happy they were strong enough to put differences aside and come together to make another record. A solid one for that matter.

after listening about 8-10 times full through and to other songs numerous more times...I think this album is fucking HUGE and probably their most "complete" and diverse work since AHA....this is a GREAT record....so many different sounds we havent heard the kings attempt until now....yes some it is poppy..but to me it still has that "slightly weird" sound that makes KOL different to most other bands...Nathan and Jared stand out big time on this record....and Matt is fantastic...Caleb's voice is the best its ever sounded on record here....
Standouts to me are: ( not including singles and songs we have heard live already)
Rock City Temple Family Tree Comeback Story Coming Back Again
But honestly..there are no "bad" tracks at all on this or even "throwaway" tracks like on CAS...this is a pretty solid album from start to finish...some pretty killer stuff here that fans of all KOL eras should like....but if you are fan that likes everything they do..you will love this record after you give it a ton of listens...its a GROWER people..with lots of layering and depth...

What are people's thoughts on the next next single ?
my guess is comeback story ... too amazing.
i love this record ...it's got everything KOL has done right all polished up epicly .
My favs are
Rock City Supersoaker Dont Matter Family tree Comeback story is utterly epic.
I love how evil Family tree sounds on the record / reminds me of how dark caleb gets in the verses of Holy Roller / and on a good deal of Because of the Times. and the breakdown and backing vocals at the end are fuckin bangin !
If I had to compare Mechanical Bull to one record the most it would definetly be BECAUSE OF THE TIMES. that was their breakthrough in my opinion. My favorite is AHA THO ! woo.

also LAST MILE HOME sounds like the best B SIDE from BECAUSE OF THE TIMES that never happened. in a true love way sense.

What are people's thoughts on the next next single ? "Temple" sounds very radio friendly to me. I think it's a great song!

I was reading one review and he said "walk a mile" is a bad song, I'm left wondering how metacritic can take into account such shit reviews...can't even look at the tracklist and get the song name right

What do you mean slower and deeper? Good or not good?

First thing this morning was a phonecall from the cd shop: the album had arrived! I'm on my first listen now, s'all good so far. ) I love how the cover looks, with a hologram card, so that from the left the lights are out & from the right the lights are on. Sweet effect, but I'm not sure if it shows well enough in the pic.

It's so good! I love that there's a good amount of proper guitar solos again, cos obviously the measly two on CAS weren't quite enough. It also sounds to me like Matt's been listening to the tapes his dad used to send him as a teenager, cos I hear some old influences. I love how both Beautiful War and Last Mile Home make me think of horse back riding, in the same way that Knocked Up always makes me think of an old steam train. And Caleb has managed to write one of the nastiest lyrics in the history of KOL (you could bleed, stain my seed), but his voice sounds great. In some songs much clearer than before, in ways of it's a lot easier to hear what the hell he's actually singing, but on the other hand also far more passionate than on OBTN or CAS (imo); sometimes it feels like he's squeezing it out from his toes.

Yup, that's Don't Matter. Still my favourite song on the album. It's such a fun song to belt out. My neighbours must love me, cos no-one's complained yet for my loud singing/screaming along.
