I was curious to know whether or not some of you felt the same as some of us americans... For myself, I have ALWAYS wanted to go to France and Italy (Europe, period, but mostly those two places) and alot of people I know say "Oh I have always wanted to visit Europe" haha My question is do you feel the same way about visiting America? Why or why not? Just my curiosity at work...

Yup, this European would love to go to the US. I love cities and always wanted to go to NY, Boston, LA, San Fran and New Orleans (though in all honesty, more so before Katrina). Ever since going on forums & meeting lots of great people from all over the US the list has expanded, but in those cases it's more about the people than their locations. But I guess it's safe to say that Nashville has recently been added to my city list.

to be really honest, I was never interested by the states, but now I look at things differently and I tell myself it would be nice to go, I would love to see New york, Florida (my boyfriend went there and he loved it) and more of the north of the states, like Alaska and the likes, and california

America is so much better, bigger, prettier (I really enjoy the countryside here but America just has a bit more of a nice feeling to it), I like all the massive cities and all the open space - the vast changes in climate across the country. To be honest you have all of Europe in one country, the snow, hot weather etc. I can't really explain it, I sound like such a geek haha, but when I'm in America I just feel really happy

Good question! I think people here (New Zealand) are mostly naturally drawn to Europe/UK etc because of ou heritage, and also because of its proximity to other countries - we're so isolated here that when people go away they want to do as much as possible, and I guess that's easier in Europe. Then again I know lots of people that went to / are in the States for work or uni, it seems people go there more if they have a set puropse if that makes sense. Oh and LOTS of people go to Canada... Personally I've (gasp) never been out of NZ (yup, not even to Australia ) but am looking to go to England for uni the year after next. I was considering America too but I don't know anyone who lives there, whereas all my family are in England/France/Greece. It's a big incentive

Yep. I reaaally want to go to America. In fact I really want to travel to a lot of places. I want to go to New York City, ideally in the lead up to Christmas one year. I'd like to go to a few other cities like Seattle, Chicago, Wasington. I also want to do the South West states, take in LA, San Fransisco, San Diego, Vegas, see the Grand Canyon.. and the Coachella festival. So, yeah.

Im originally from there and have not been back since Katrina. However, my sister lives there still as well as our dad and they say it is still way far gone. It still looks pretty bad. Makes me very very sad. Its such an awesome place. It feels like the city is like 10 yrs behind the rest of the country, its so wierd. Laid back.... ahh I miss it.

I spent a summer working in the states a few years ago and loved it! (I worked in Pittsburgh but got to see Philadelphia, NY and i travelled up to Canada on the greyhound so i got to see a bit more!) I got to stay with host families as well so i met so many great people and got to integrate into society better than if i was just a tourist. Before that id always wanted to visit but since ive been back i miss it a lot and am making plans to go and live there (hopefully for a year of uni and beyond!). Everyone had a positive mentality and was really fun loving and i really loved that atmosphere - it just seemed like anything was possible. I love that its such a huge country and is so multicultural and accepting of different people!! I guess im quite lucky though that everyone i met was lovely

If I were going through, say, the UK... I would probably say the same stuff... you know what they say... "the grass is always greener on the other side"!

That was only a handful of times. the furthest north I have been I think is San Francisco, CA. Northern Virginia as well... Thank you for answering!

Do you think I would love your country as much if I were to visit? I dont mean if you were thinking for me haha I mean like what do like about where you live that would draw us there? Does any of that even make sense? lol Im from south west Scotland - so i have Glasgow nearby which is Scotlands biggest city, for clubs and restaurants and gigs etc but around where i live is pretty quiet and we have the most beautiful scenery. Im less than a 10 minute drive to the coast (nowhere in Scotland is further than an hour from the ocean!) where we have lots of little islands and beaches. The weather is bad though, we get rain a LOT and its quite windy, also most of our beaches are pebbles and not sand!! But we are a small country that you can travel anywhere in it in less than a day I think most people visit for our history (castles etc), and our scenery but most people say they like the character of the scottish people - we always like to have a party and theres always something exciting happening We have a great music scene too, and lots of theatres for plays and art museums, also theres always street performers (like dancers or musicians) in the streets!! I think you would have a lot of fun if you came
