Im so glad you liked it! Do you think I would love your country as much if I were to visit? I dont mean if you were thinking for me haha I mean like what do like about where you live that would draw us there? Does any of that even make sense? lol Im from south west Scotland - so i have Glasgow nearby which is Scotlands biggest city, for clubs and restaurants and gigs etc but around where i live is pretty quiet and we have the most beautiful scenery. Im less than a 10 minute drive to the coast (nowhere in Scotland is further than an hour from the ocean!) where we have lots of little islands and beaches. The weather is bad though, we get rain a LOT and its quite windy, also most of our beaches are pebbles and not sand!! But we are a small country that you can travel anywhere in it in less than a day I think most people visit for our history (castles etc), and our scenery but most people say they like the character of the scottish people - we always like to have a party and theres always something exciting happening We have a great music scene too, and lots of theatres for plays and art museums, also theres always street performers (like dancers or musicians) in the streets!! I think you would have a lot of fun if you came You just got a karma from me.... you should go into raising tourism! All I have seen are photos and now I am adding Scotland to my list... one day I will go to all the places on it. See, my husband went to Iraq (military) twice. He was able to go to Ireland for a bit enroute as well as Germany and Budapest, Hungary, so I Im jealous of him

I'd love to go to America, preferably New York! Everything seems so much more modern and exciting over there. But then again, I love Europe, 'cause it's a mix and match of everything. I'm from Belgium myself, but I live 20 minutes from the Dutch border. And within 2 hours I can travel to Germany, England or France. I've been to almost every West-European country and every single one of them has its own characteristics and culture. Although I think it's the same with the different states in America. Isn't each of them like a country on it's own, with different mentalities and traditions? I wouldn't know of course. And like you said: the grass is always greener on the other side. You always want to discover what you don't know already. Karma coming your way in about an hr as well! You are more correct than you know when you said that the states were like a country on it's own... there are so many ways to describe the differences! It also comes from the variety and nationality (as well as their religion and heritage) that dictates how people live here. It isnt called "the melting pot" for nothing!

Anyone in Ireland... the place my husband went to enroute to and from Iraq both times... was called Shannon, I believe. He would always bring me back things from there. I think our Guiness glassware is pretty well stocked haha and he bought me the loveliest turqouise compact there!

I get what you mean about meeting ppl from the forums completely! As far as New Orleans... Im originally from there and have not been back since Katrina. However, my sister lives there still as well as our dad and they say it is still way far gone. It still looks pretty bad. Makes me very very sad. Its such an awesome place. It feels like the city is like 10 yrs behind the rest of the country, its so wierd. Laid back.... ahh I miss it. It so sad about New Orleans. I watched the Spike Lee documentaries and it just broke my heart the history and families and lives that have been destroyed. From a purely selfish point of view I'll always regret not getting to visit before Katrina, but I still know I'll go there some day. I'd really love to visit, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and California. I loved the scenery of the old westerns my mum and dad used to watch so much and i think thats why i want to see these places. And its so diverse in its scenery too and on such a grand scale. I think California would be an absolute hoot..and I love the hippy reputation it has. I also love the whole "americana" thing...cadillacs, desert roads, dive honky tonk bars I've visited New York twice now and its an amazing city..I absolutely loved every minute of both trips there, everything you could want is there, and I found the people very laid back and friendly for such a large place. I'm from Ireland by the way and even though its a godforsaken wet and grumpy country at the mo I still do love it...you should definitely make the trip over some day.

Sounds like youve done your homework! A+ lol... if you wanna hang with hippies... go to San Francisco.. or you can just hang out with my mom! You know Tom Waits worked at a small pizzeria in San Diego back in the day?

It is soo sad that our country hasn't done more for New Orleans I have family that live in Louisiana but they weren't affected by Katrina (thank God!). Sadly, I never made it down to NO before Katrina either. It's weird how some of us who live in the States haven't seen much outside the state we actually live in! I've been to New York, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Michigan, Virginia, North and South Carolina and Tennessee but there is sooooo much more I want to see! As far as outside the US....I can't even begin to list all the places I would love to see!

Have been to Boston once and New York 3 times. Always enjoyed it, good craic and the people are usually nice. Not sure about living there but would love to get a shitty old car and drive east to west. Stretch it out over a few months. My mates are a bit rubbish with regards to travel at the moment so thats not going to happen anytime soon. My brother is moving to LA after Christmas so it looks like ill take a trip over after he settles in. BRMC are playing LA in March so I might land on his doorstep around that time.

I'd like to go to New York, and to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada as my dad has history there, but overall I would want to go so I could visit the people I've met in Amercia/South America. I'm not massively ambitious or adventurous so I've never been one to long for travel; it's not anything against America itself, I'm the same with all countries.

Our dad ended up in Memphis. We were stationed in Fort Hood at the time so we were fine. They are all back in Nola now though. As far as where I have been... lets see... I was born in New Orleans, LA. Raised mostly in San Diego, CA and have lived in Texas (Hurst and Fort Hood areas), Wichita, KS, Santa Maria, CA and Mesa, AZ and Norfolk, VA(not in that order ). However I have been to Mexico numerous times but nowhere else outside of the states. I have driven through soooo many states though... AZ, NM, TX, AL, GA so many more, mostly from traveling to KS and VA.

So whats the history in Nevada? He worked on Thrust 2, the car which broke the Land Speed record in 1983. He was the engineer. They did the runs in the Black Rock Desert and I know he'd love to go back, so I'd like to go too. www.bluebird-electric.net/bluebird_images/thrust_2_poster.jpg^That's not him btw, that's Richard Noble, the man who drove it and decided to make the attempt. The only pics I know of of my dad with the car are in his private collection.
