Might be worth a try! You won't have to apply it too your whole hair anyway, just the roots.

I have the same(ish) thing as you Nicole, what I do is use a (quite chemically) shampoo every 2-3 weeks when it gets really bad, but then condition with a normal, natural conditioner, which at least takes the smell out... The olive oil thing is AMAZING, makes your hair so shiny and soft, but be warned, put a shower cap on or something because it stains real bad

For the past 2-3 months, my scalp has been really dry! I started using a dry scalp shampoo and conditioner, but I can taste the chemicals in my mouth when I rinse. ewww. I prefer more natural products - I read that tea tree oil shampoos might be an option - anyone? tea tree would dry it out more i think. you could add natural oil to your conditioner. otherwise i would suggest you just prepare yourself for having a bad hair day once a week and cover your scalp with a natural oil which will weigh down the rest of your hair. apparently (iv never actually tried this) if you put oil on your hair and wrap it in cling film while you lie in a hot bath it helps the oil to sink into the hair and scalp.

Thanks for the ideas everyone - *running out to buy more olive oil*
Olive oil really is the cure all for everything bad, isn't it?

This might not exactly be a beauty problem but I don't know where else to ask so I'll do it here anyway!
A good place to buy bags online? I need a new bag, preferably a not-so-expensive messenger bag, suitable for books and stuff. I've checked ebay but can't find anything good.

I'm not much help. I would have no idea where to look for a specific bag. I have a huge purse collection but I just stumbled across them all. I seriously have about 60 bags. I need to get rid of some!

Nicole i have dry scalp too- well actually i have a very mild form of psoriasis on my scalp and i went to a dermatologist recently and she gave me this cream thing i have to use before i wash my hair and she said that T-Gel shampoo by Neutrogena is great. I've been using both for a few months now and my scalp is nearly completely perfect. Hardly any dryness and no flakes or dandruff. I don't know if that's due more to the cream thing or the T-Gel but you should try it- and it doesn't have a strong chemical smell at all. Hope you find something that helps. I kinda need some help too! I used to have really clear skin on my face and then all of a sudden i got this thing on my chin. I don't know what it is but it kinda looks like a rash- a red sorta of dryness. I've been putting Sudocrem on it a bit but it hasn't worked so i bought some vitamin E capsules because i read somewhere that breaking them and rubbing the oil into your skin is really good for curing any skin problems. I just started using them last night but i'm wondering if anyone else can recommend anything else incase they don't work? I cleanse and moiturise everyday so i don't know where it suddenly came from! My mam was saying maybe i'm allergic to something i'm using but i don't think so because i haven't really been using anything new and it's only no my chin. Sorry for the really long post but i'd appreciate any advice from all you knowledgeable HA'ers!

I will try the Neutrogena Kim - thanks! Your chin problem is easily solved - stop making out with guys who have beard stubble. haha seriously... It may be sun damage, I have that on my forehead. Or it could be rosacea. I would ask your dermatologist. Vitamin E sounds good though, I don't believe it would make it worse anyways!

I take it cause my mom has really thin hair and I'm afraid mine will start thinning out like hers did. I've been taking it for a few years now and so far it seems to be working.

If it is it's no biggy but you'll need an antibiotic from your doc to clear it.

There's this cream you can get (I'm not sure if its prescription or not) called Lemnas Fatty Cream (yes, really), and it is amazing for any sort of skin rash/complaint. At least half of my friends/family, including myself, have used it at some stage, and its great! (Although I'd go to a chemist or GP just to double check if I were you...) Could it be stress? I get very localised (only on my neck) rashes when I have exams and stuff, and they always just go away after a couple of weeks

Thanks for that i'll keep putting the vitamin-E on it for a few more days and if it doesn't seem to be helping i'll just go to the doctor and see if she can help. Thanks for the info. And thanks for your suggestions too Nicole and Jeff(i don't think it could be stress right now but i may try that cream you mentioned!)

can anyone recommend something that will soothe my scalp? I bleahced it 3 times yesterday and it feels really tight and tender I recommend a night cream- Soap & Glory Night in shining armour. And there daily illuminating moisturizer is really nice, you can add it to your foundation to give it a nice sheen also. More foundations I recently bought and would recommend: MAC studio sculpt, if you like full coverage. MAC mineralize satin finish (i think thats the name), I find it even outs my skin tone and has more of a dewy rather than cakey look. I wear it everyday. MAC limited edition blush in daft pink. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Looks really 80s. Urban decay Book of shadows vol II. Everyone knows how amazing their stuff is already so no need to big it up

can anyone recommend something that will soothe my scalp? I bleahced it 3 times yesterday and it feels really tight and tender I can recommend soothing shampoo from L'Occitane. It's one of those shampoos with 5 essential oils, the one with purple label. My own scalp is very problematic and it's the only shampoo that seems to help me
