Does anyone know what their heritage is?
I know they've said something about being part Native American.
I've heard some people say that they are British but I'm not so sure.

As an American from the south I will say this:
Just about everyone likes to claim they've descended from Native Americans, especially if they're from down here. Unless one can actually pull out papers that proves which tribe their ancestors come from, that "1/16th Native American" claim is usually ignored/laughed off.

^ yeah, well it'd make sense to me that they'd be part Native American considering where they were born. and Im sure you've seen them wear the Indian head shirts. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but they sure do look like they're part Native American.

As someone who has family from the south, I can say that alot of people in this part of the country do have some Native American heritage....my family has Cherokee heritage on my grandmothers side though I doubt I could provide "papers" to prove it. Also, most people from the south more than likely have African American heritage too, because of slave owners who had children with their slaves...though that is not often admitted or documented either.
As far as the Followills....I really have no idea about their heritage. I do remember Nathan saying something about Native American's when talking about his tattoos and then there is "Manhattan"...so that could be true.
edit: wow, could I have said the word "heritage" any more in this post? haha I feel like Caleb using the word literally!

An old Rolling Stone article claimed they have "fractions of Cherokee and Chickasaw blood," Matt apparently a little more than the brothers cos of his mom. Apart from that they're 'an old American family' with ties to George Washington. Don't remember where I read that though, been flicking through some clippings but can't find it atm.

^^ I think you saw it here on HA Betty Ann is a Washington, and the brothers said that their ancestry goes right back to George Washington...but that they're scared to research it in case it isn't actually true Followills & Washingtons have been in the South for centuries.

^ I remember you posted just about the same info a few months ago. I'm quite sure I've since then read an article where Caleb mentions 'grandpa Washington' as well though.
