Came across this web site www.songfacts.com/artist:kings_of_leon.phpDo you agree with them - on Slow night so long they said this 'In an interview with Rip & Burn magazine, Caleb Followill explained that the song was about his feelings for his brother Jared's girlfriend, and that although he liked her, she didn't think much of Caleb.'

That's what I heard--probably quoted from the same interview. Some have said that it's about the current GF, which hasnt been confirmed. "Rise and shine all you gold digging mother, or are you too good to tango with the poor, poor boys..." --THAT's a good line, if it's about a GF. Seems like he didnt think much about her.

This one sounds like he's been reading the fan fiction!! Be Somebody
Lead singer Caleb Followill explained to Clash magazine the background to this song: "That was one that we had been messing around with for a bit. It sounded really dark. We had a couple of fans that were getting online that were crazy. They were talkin' so much s--t about us, but at the same time they were talkin' about how we were the love of their lives, and we live together; they had all these weird, f--ked up fantasies. So I kinda wrote these verses about life as we see it, and then in the chorus I'd switch scenes to them. It's like, (sings) 'Given a chance I'm gonna be somebody / If for one day I'm gonna be somebody / So open the door, I'm gonna make you love me / I'm facing the floor, I'm gonna be somebody.' It's about someone really taking it to the next level. I've always said, from day one, no matter how many fans we get, if one of us ever died from a fan, it would be a girl. There's no guy that would wanna kill us. There are girls that get so obsessed they would want to kill us. They wanna shoot us, they wanna do whatever. It's always scared me, but I thought if it's a fear of mine I should write a song about it, maybe I can stop it from happening."

I did read the Be Somebody explanation before and that's what he said--it's about obsessed fans. I might have a link to the interview somewhere, but I'll look for it later. Here, Caleb explains every song on BOTT and then Jared and Matt explain every song on OBTN: www.xfm.co.uk/article.asp?id=382495

there is also www.songmeanings.net but its more about personal interpretation than actual facts, I often go there, they also give the lyrics of the songs

I always thought 'arizona' was literally about a whore house in arizona. I remember reading an interview about it .. that one time caleb and nate went to a brothel in arizona .. and apparently caleb saw a beautiful woman and all he could think about was ... what would a woman being so beautiful etc .. be doing in a place like this?.. he also said he never took her .. but instead chose an ugly one ..

there was a guy, on the Trani video on youtube commenting that the song was actually not about a real Trani, as in the guy dressed as a woman, but actually the electric resistance they put in radios, transistor, and the guy was really serious about it, I have to find back that comment, especially the replies, saying 'oh really, now you're talking about it, it makes sense' I nearly choked on my coffee, but couldnt be bothered to reply to him. Honestly, I cant really imagine Caleb writing about an electric resistance in a radio... here it is : I think in this song, a 'Trani on ten" is referring to a Transistor Radio cranked up to (volume) 10...you now the point where you get all the feedback? Evidently, in the UK, trani is slang for a transistor radio. Can't remember where I read this. But I don't think it's referring to a Tranny (transvestite). When I read this somewhere and then listened to the song again, it kinda made sense...esp. because of the lyrics about a white noise sound, anyway that's my $0.02.

Perhaps it is an allusion to both a trani and a tranny? I just don't think the rest of the song would tie into the transistor radio theory.

Caleb always says he likes double meaning in songs.
In regards to Trani specifically, he said that he wrote this song as part truth/part fantasy. He read about a tranny from the UK, and then imagined him somewhere in the South (US), and what would happen to him. How he would basically be hooking @ a Greyhound station (not a place you wanna turn tricks necessarily), and how he'd be basically killed once found out. Trani on ten refers to both 10gr of coke, and the maximum sound on an old transistor radio, which correlates to this person screaming on top of his lungs.

I know Razz is about Jared, but there are a few lyrics I don't quite understand. So, is anyone up for just analyzing the entire song?
