Reading Chronicle twitter
KOL played well but spent a lot of time having a go, finished by throwing a guitar at the crowd with their fingers up...
Kings of leon's caleb seems pretty grumpy...

I watched it all last night. I was having an amazing time just watching them in my living room. I felt like i was at reading. But that crowd was crap. I went mental when BBC 3 cut the set off early. So disapointed.
But KOL played amazing in my opinion but they were just playing not really rocking. but i still love them. Some awesome bass faces from Jared and actions from Caleb.
Hopefully Reading hasn't put KOL off from ever doing the festival again. Or else i will be mad.

Thought something was up. Watched the set, and Caleb looked pissed off throughout the whole of Sex Of Fire. Revelry sounded awesome though Hopefully Leeds will be better

For everyone outside the UK who wants to watch the first hour of their set online, just send me a pm and i'll give you the info on how to do it. Surprisingly simple.

Fine it wasn't crap, but it wasn't the best crowd i had ever seen. But its not the crowds fault, if i have to admit KOL [well caleb mostly] are perfectionists and one slite little error and the whole gig is wrong. Plus I think its cause most of the people there only knew songs from only by the night.

considering they were the headline act, i would say the crowd reaction was pretty disappointing, especially when i think back at the crowd when i was at titp this year. it was so frustrating watching it, caleb was trying so hard to get more love from the crowd and they just werent getting it... they need a break, they deserve a break!

I think sometimes when you're in a crowd it can seem like the crowd is lively if the section near you is getting into, its hard to tell sometimes unless your stood back from it The crowd was crap?! I was there last night & i certainly wouldn't say the crowd was crap

Here's what the sun had to say, not that their opinion really matters...
KINGS OF LEON - The band struggled through their headline slot at Reading with a painful set that ended in smashing their guitars.
The Nashville brothers played a lacklustre set that failed to captivate the audience, partially due to the dreadful acoustics and high winds.
Caleb Followill's raspy vocals on Closer and Four Kicks did little to encourage the mass sing-a-long usually expected from a main stage act.
The frontman tried to whip up enthusiasm, saying: "I thought this was supposed to be the loudest crowd in the world?"

But failing to pick up the pace, he pleaded with fans before Sex on Fire, adding: "We need you guys to help us do this."
Caleb did his best to save the boys from embarrassment, again begging the audience to liven up for The Bucket.
He eventually surrended with an odd tirade, saying: "We know you're sick of Kings of Leon. We're f***ing sick of Kings of Leon too. But we get up here every night and I thank God for everything I've had.
"So for all those who don't give a f*** about us, I understand. But we've worked hard to be here. We're the god damn Kings of Leon, so f*** you."
Best song: The Bucket
Rating: 4 out of 10
