Personally I think those statistics are really interesting and I'll eat my hat if anyone can name a more hard working band around out the moment. Lest we forget that almost all of 2007 and some of 2008 were taken up with touring BOTT too. exactly my opinion, the boys are really working their - probably non existing - asses off! thx guys!

I honestly don't care how much they are working. They do get time off whether they have a lot or not, it's their job, and thats what they chose to do with their lives so they should have to deal with it, everyone else does... although i don't believe they have been complaining about time off?

I don't think they have been complaining either and yes they do get 'time off' but very little actual time off. Time at home, etc not just time off in between shows and recording albums. I think a bit of proper time off would ensure that they come back better than ever and when I buy tickets to shows I want to hear a band at their best.

Time off is time off. And i saw them 30 ish day into this 'tour' and then at the weekend too, and they didn't seem much different to me. But then again i'm begining to feel seeing them once is enough.

This year I've seen them six times and personally I enjoyed each show. It was more the crowd in Manchester that made it crappy but I thought Caleb looked wretched on Saturday. Maybe it's got nothing to do with needing a break, perhaps there's something goingwe don't know about and that's their business but they have been acting odd-ish over the last few weeks. A break might make the two song fans go away and that would be wonderful

Don't get me wrong i did enjoy them all but they just didn't seemed very.. samey? I just don't feel they do much to entertain me (other than the music) enough for me to want to keep going. I think that may lose some of the SOF fans..

What else do you want them to do though? I go to KOL shows to be entertained by the music and they tick the box in that regard. From day one they were never in to showmanship and what not and I respect them for that. They let the music do the talking. I love debates

I know it's really about the music but i just like to be entertained in other ways. I just feel if the music is the only thing 'doing the talking' each show is just the same, as setlists never really change that much anyway... i don't know.

Do travel days or days filled with media interviews, photoshoots, TV appearances and business meetings count as time off to you? Cos they sure as hell don't to me! I want them to have time off because I don't want them to burn out prematurely or get sick of what they do. Yes, it's their job, and we all have to work whether we want to or not. But they are musicians and performers, and I don't WANT them to treat recording or performing as "just a job". They know they're lucky to do what they do for a living, I don't want them to ever lose that.

Thanks for Karma Michelle and Jay you will always hold that crown. No doubt about it! You are a KOL human, walking, talking archive Lottie, personally I don't agree with you because if I go to a gig the music is totally and utterly paramount. I actually hate how some bands spend more time and effort on how their stage looks and special effects. Yea it can be pretty but sometimes I wish more bands would be more like KOL and let their music do the talking.

Well after reading the stats i feel differently. They get more time off than me and get to travel the world. I know it isnt the same as "normal" people as they cant help but think of music and then traveling on their time off.
Obviously i can SEE the effect of the mahoooossive tour they chose to do, and it actually hurt to see caleb slink off at oxegen. But its a job, a job i would kill to be doing.
Having said that i hope they take a LONG break.

Yea but Sophie they are just the stats from the last year or so. What about 2008 and 2007 too?

Hmm yeah i guess. But they're the ones that keep creating. If bott hadnt been held back we'd probs be on the 5th maybe even 6th album now (not that i would want that).
At times it can be difficult to sympathise with people who seem to have everything.

It's possible to to acknowledge someone's extreme good fortune and also sympathise over the shit that comes with it. I can be sick with jealousy over their first-class travel plans and the money and the houses, cars, clothes etc and most of all, their talent. But I can also look at their never-ending tour schedule, the constant demands on their time & emotions, the expectation that they not just perform but be on form, and the assholes that they must have to deal with every day (the entertainment industry is full of them). I know that I could NEVER live a life like that. I wouldn't want to. I'm glad they do it for me.
