im still thinking but i agree the constant smiting is pretty much bullying. maybe we could make do with telekinetic karma, i dunno yet.
im not someone who watches my karma count so i wouldnt know if id been smited, but maybe if my karma count started going down by up to 10 per day it would matter alot more to me.

I think Karma should stay, it's a positive thing. And people need to just ignore those who are mean with the smiting. Would be better that way, right?

I think karma needs to stay and the people who smite needs to go! I agree - i like giving Karma for funny/entertaining posts or when people are kind to me as its a good way of letting people know they are appreciated!! I detest smiting and I can understand why people can get upset/driven away by constant smiting - and i don't think it is something we should tolerate as a community. I vote to keep the Karma function even though smiting is not something that can be controlled and if someone has been smited I think we should make an extra effort to make sure that person knows that not all of us feel that way!!

I've thought about it. We shouldn't give in to bullies. If anyone finds themselves being smited to that extent then I think it's up to the rest of us to show some support. But they would have to let everyone know it's going on, I guess.
I vote exhalt/smite stays

I think we should keep the karma. As far as I know, we are the only forum that has that feature.
Personally I enjoy giving karma to random people who are like, 1 away from getting 100 karma or something. I logged in to HA today and found out that someone gave me random karma. It's fun.

I love karma! I think smiting is pretty horrible though... But I was just thinking, another forum I've been on has this thing where you can thank people for their post (So underneath everyone's posts, there's a little "thanks" button, which you can click if you like what that person is saying - and there's no way to take thanks away from anyone, so no smiting or anything) But I'm not sure if this option is even available on proboards, but I just thought I'd share anyway!

But they would have to let everyone know it's going on, I guess. Most people who read that someone's lost karma, will give them karma to get restored. So it's often that you'll end up with 5+ new karmas after you lose one. That's how nice the majority here is. Also like someone else said its "our" thing, id never seen a forum before with karma Every forum on proboards has karma, though the admins can choose to disable it. I think it's a nice option.

I think we should keep it. It's nice to be able to give people karma when they say something funny or post a good article or picture. As for smiting, most people will only smite when people are being total fuckheads, and there are a minority who smite just for the hell of it, but i'm guessing they are just idiots that no one really talks to or likes...so fuck 'em if they want to smite us just ignore it. Like glitterkitten said most people are so nice you end up with heaps more karma than what you had before being smited

i'm voting to keep karma because i really like to give people karma when they make me laugh or whatever. I also like it when i get karma too it makes me smile. If i get smited i try to ignore it but i suppose it would be annoying if your were being constantly smited!

If it was up to me I would get rid of it.
People give others positive karma for the littlest things like "I love KOL".... oh really? we all wondered why you joined a KOL forum.
I think some people just join to try and get as much negative karma also like that guy who came on and just posted random crap under different screen names. If there was no karma he wouldn't have bothered and wouldn't have cluttered up the boards with inane posts.

Keep Karma.
It's a boost of something positive and people look forward to receiving it. It's been an integral part of the forum for a while, why get rid of it now?
