KARMA

We know that the Karma/Smiting sometimes upset people.
We are now able to get rid of this function.
Please take a vote on whether you want to keep it or get rid of it.

Please note that we aren't able to tell you who smited you. We can just disable this function if enough of you vote for it.

i think it's best if it goes.
i know it's nice to get karma from people and it shows that you're appreciated by other people on this forum.
but smiting is just horrible and seems to have driven some people away from here.
i think alot of tension on here would ease up if the option was taken away, because some people clearly are too temped by the smite button.

iv gotta be honest im not sure what i feel about this iv always liked karma its a nice system and usually, unless a few people start being nasty, it really does show who is popular and contibutes alot to the forum.
but i also dont like knowing that people are basically being picked on through smiting, is there a time limit on this vote??

I like karma. It's nice to be able to give it to people who have been nice etc to you, or posted a great review/pics, made you laugh etc.

Naturally I don't like smiting and when it happens I just ignore it for the most part. People will soon get bored smiting when they aren't getting a reaction.

I think we should keep it. I like giving people karma I know the smiting upsets some people but I really dont think we should let it ruin the idea. I get smited, and yeah you feel a little irritated but at the end of the day its just a number! Its the thought behind the karma that counts.

^^ that's what I think too. It's nice to show your appreciation for certain posts by giving karma. I never look at how much karma I have so would rarely notice if I've been smited.

I like giving karma. I don't often pay attention to my karma total so it wouldn't hurt me if it went, but I enjoy the thought behind it when it's given to me. I don't care about being smited. It means nothing and is pointless because there's no explanation. I say ignore smiting.

When you get smited , in the first moment you think " what was wrong ? " especially when you are new here but after a while you think: " There so many nice people here it doesn't matter". And for all the nice people in here i like to give them KARMA

But the smitting is truely awful....if only stupid,mean people without a life would stop doing it.

The smiting is really easy to ignore though. Don't worry about your own karma and just use it to give to others...much nicer that way!

I honestly wouldnt noticed if i'd been smited i think. But i do know that several people on the board have been targets of consistent smiting, which in my book amounts to bullying. I dont think any of us can really say how that would feel unless we'd been subject to it. (and i'm not talking an odd smite here and there..these people have been smited regularly every single day..and for no apparent reason)

So yeah i'm undecided at the mo

Montana I agree that smiting of that kind is bullying. I didn't realise that some people had been victimised in that way. For that reason I would be willing to forgo giving karma - I'm gonna think about this overnight. In the meantime I retracted my vote.

Smiting sucks. I don't care how irritated I get - I just won't use it. I think I would be willing to lose the karma if it would stop the smiting. Instead we could all just send telekinetic karma to each other. I think I'm going to vote to get rid of it.

It's awful that some people are sad enough to actually bother smiting somebody every day, and I feel bad that some people feel victimised because of it. But I think it would be a shame to lose the karma function because of those arseholes. They're not "brave" enough to actually challenge those they're smiting in posts, so it's not like they're doing or saying anything abusive. I honestly think they should just be ignored and eventually they'll get bored of it, but that's just my two cents.
