Just because every other musical aspect of the band has been covered! I know his voice is the key thing etc etc, and I also have very little knowledge of guitarist-y things (I gave up after 3 lessons - but I played a kick ass 'going to louisiana with a banjo on my knee'...) But, from extensive YouTube research, I just want to say that I love his guitar parts. They're so fast, King of the Rodeo and Soft really stand out to me. I also love the way that in songs such as Milk, Knocked Up and Arizona he carries a lot of the melody in the verses - his and matts guitars often seem to go on completely different tangents, but they always come together so perfectly. Also, I love when he plays live and gets really enthusiastic about quite simple (sounding) parts like Razz. Oh, and lastly I think its great that he can sing and play at the same time. Not really an uncommon trait for a lead singer, but as the only female in the world that cant multitask, I am in awe

on call rhythm guitar is the ultimate. just after each "i'll be there waiting" kind of lead up to the chorus. then it's like *kajfkjfkljadfa*. and also during matt's guitar solo. infuckingcredible.yay caleb. karma for the thread.

I love how you've summed it up, he reallys stands out in Milk, Arizona and Knocked Up. They're generally a lot more smooth(?) than some of his other parts. Another one I will always love is Fans! Just incredible how it sounds. I really like his part at the end of Frontier City too. I found a really good example on youtube. It sounds almost scratchy? But in a really good way.

did anyone see that video-interview thing with nacho about their rig? (its in the share stuff section). I didn't realise that he's used the same guitar for the last 8ish years - that's so cool! And thanks for the karma!

yr welcome and yes yes yes *i'm trying so hard to be calm here so my posts make sense for everyone:) * I don't think i've seen that one but i know it's been used for years - hence my nickname for it. It is so cool! I love the acoustics he uses too, did you see the pretty one he used at the Weenie Roast? how pretty was that!! .. very nice. There's a funky almost dorky riff in Ragoo (i mean dorky in a nice way) i jst love it! it put in mind something i heard from them about just playing something/not being afraid to play something if it doesn't sound the hippest thing in the world. it's jst a couple of bars or chords it's the riff where the end is stretched out

Sorry to ressurect this thread, but I thought this would be a good place to put this: RIP Caleb's guitar (2002ish ((and before, with a mystery owner)) - 10 July 2009) From humble beginnings as an ebay purchase, to being the instrument that created some of THE best and most beautiful songs I've ever heard, to traversing the worlds arenas in the hands of a genius, to meeting a passionate end at T in the Park. What a life! I'll miss your little scuffed bit by the strings. Hope you enjoy your next life in guitar heaven (say hi to Jared's bass for us). One minute of silence please

Sucks that he broke it I love Caleb's rhythm, though. Sometimes it's so simple what he plays, like King of the Rodeo where he plays the same thing throughout the WHOLE song without changing but it works so well.

Don't worry girls! I don't know what he exactly did to the guitar, but if he just screwed up the neck, they should be able to fix it for him.

Absolutely!! Clever - and confident. I hope they don't fix the Gibson, even if it looks like a good job could be done. Let the old girl go out in glory.

I think he threw the bits out into the crowd, so unsalvageable. *sniff*
I always called her Mabel, not quite sure why. *double sniff*

I was at the death of the Gibson. Still schoked and saddened by the loss. It is in no way repairable as he threw the fret board into the crowd. I can still see it hurtling through the air, why did it not fly into my arms? Some bastard has that in their possession. I stayed about for 30 minutes trying to blag the other half. Whoever you are, put it on ebay now...its annoying because it probably went to an Only by the Night are the Kings of Leon fan. I hate you.

I think I am actually going to cry, did you read what he was saying about it in Guitar World?
''The guitar was just made for me. I'll put on a new guitar and it'll sound full and rich, but the second I play one of our songs with it, it doesn't sound like Kings of Leon. The 325, though, that guitar sounds like us. It's got everything.
"When I got it, it was in mint condition, and now it's showing a lot of wear and tear - there's a hole in the body near the pick guard from my strumming. I worry about it. I don't know how long I'll be able to keep it. I have a few backup guitars, but the 325 is what gives me the sound, you know?"
ahhhhhhhhh going to weep
