I think we can all agree, even if you don't want to admit it, that the guys need a break, desperately. They seem worn out and tired of being on the road, and itching to relax and work on new songs that "might be hard to swallow," (bring it on guys!) I understand the guys want to do everything they can right now because who knows what the future holds. I'm a diehard KoL fan, like most of y'all, but I can wait a while for the next album, the longer the wait the sweeter it'll be, right? I don't want to use words like "I'm afraid..." "They've changed..." because I'm tired of 'em. They've grown up, they're clearly exhausted from all the touring, they need a break, one that's longer than 14 days every two/three months. So yeah, wanted to get this all out in one place. And that's that. Please use this thread to voice your support for a KoL break.

Well, they are gonna take a break! I think we all know they need one, but it's up to them how long it is and when they start. I doubt they'd do anything they didn't want to do, like postponing a break. Don't worry, they know what's best for themselves

I agree they need a break! A couple of weeks here and there isn't enough! I know when they go home for a short amount of time they probably have so many people to visit and hang out with that it probably isn't very relaxing!
I don't want to see them get too worn out and something bad happen (getting in a REALLY bad fight... getting sick of music... ect...)
(and sarah follow me on twitter lol i sent you a tweet but i dont think you got it!)

I agree, but at the same time I've heard them repeatedly say that when they do take a break they get bored at home. haha

Like, yeah, we're protective of them and want to look out for them, but they're clearing not all about taking too much time off. They wouldn't take on so much if they didn't know they could handle it.

i think they are more concerned about pleasing their fans than they are their own well being

I would love for them to take some months off you know take their ladies on vacations where there aren't gigs sprinkled throughout, hang out in Nashville, see family but I feel like it's not in them. It seems like they're always saying how they get bored so quickly and then are ready to get back at it. But I feel like they might be really serious about taking a break after this record. I hope they are especially for Matthew and Jared's sake.
P.S. How will Nathan and Jessie ever find time to get married otherwise?!?

wow, I literally came here to start a thread with this exact idea! they need to take a break, get married (if applicable), record and then come back and kick ass again. I remember reading an article (no idea where) recently where ?Caleb? said that they know they should take some time off but they keep postponing it to add more dates... It scares me a little. I dont want them to... y'know... die !

i agree, esp. caleb sometimes looks very very exhausted...all of them do! so guys, take a break. don't worry, your real hardcore happyalone fans will be waiting til the end of time for you right? i felt so bad for caleb and matt at their berlin gig in february this year. caleb said a couple of times that his voice sounds weird and his throat is sore and you could definitly hear it in some songs...and they didn't play notion and black thumbnail because of his voice. matt was exhausted too, he sat down in front of his amp during playing in some songs...and he layed down at the end of the show...and caleb gestured that his voice was actually dead. you can see hear:

Yep, take a break boys, chill out a bit to quiet your minds, go on vacation, stay at home in Nashville & finish your houses, marry (this only goes out to Nathan haha).... After the break KOL will come back with creative ideas, new sounds and an exciting new album! I could easily wait a year, although i'm a very impatient person. But it's for the sake of the guys' health and music

I'm tempted to agree with Savanna but: 1: Boredom is necessary before you can really relax. I agree, but at the same time I've heard them repeatedly say that when they do take a break they get bored at home. haha it's human nature to be bored when suddenly thrown out of a scheduled routine, especially when that routine is predetermined. People who work hard with few breaks or in a very specific kind of environment are often at a loss when suddenly faced with making daily decisions and pleasing themselves. The easy thing is always to go straight back into what you know, being busy asap. The best thing is just to stick with it and then adapt and discover how to relax, and 'potter'/find things to do beyond the boredom otherwise you never get to recharge properly. It's kind of like pushing through a pain barrier. So being bored is a necessary thing not a bad thing. Kings of Leon don't seem to know that; they wimp out on being bored and so don't get beyond it. 2: The world they live in is an alien place, and makes you be a certain way. It's far removed from everyday concerns and responsibilities, most importantly those concerning relationships, but also basic life stuff like shopping, paying bills, emptying the bins. A bit of normal can only do them good, especially Jared and Matt who went into this straight out of school. I'm basing this on things two friends of ours say. He was in a very successful band in the late 80's early 90's, she had to put up with it (him). He had a lot of adapting to do when he was at home. So, I hope they can know what's best for them and do it like Savanna says, but it's not always that easy.

Yeah I think they should have a break if they're exhausted, as much as I want them to add more dates cos I need to see them , whats the point if its gonna practically kill them? I can't wait for their new album, but I just think they should do what's best for them, if they need time to write their best album yet, and a break so they can give their best performances, then that's fine. But part of me wonders if they're trying to get it all done now while they're still the hottest thing around, so people don't forget about them.

I basically just wanted to say that as a fan I wouldn't be upset with them or angry and disappointed if they took a break. i'll support them no matter what, and i understand that they do have a certain amount of control over their schedules and this much touring is most likely due to their own desire to do as much as possible at the moment. again, i just basically wanted to come in here and say that if they wanted to take a lengthy break, i'd support it one hundred percent.

^ so would i Most things have been said here already but like ticboo says about the boredom thing, i hope it's not a 'we don't actually know how to relax' .. :/ that's worrying but not surprising considering their schedule. The other thing that worries me is like you said eyelashes: "part of me wonders if they're trying to get it all done now while they're still the hottest thing around, so people don't forget about them." that one worries me the most. It's another reason why i am genuinely pleased this album has done very well for them because i hope now they feel a little bit more secure and they have more of an anchor to set and return to (apparently the kings live / their careers are on a boat in my head,,, heyy why not :/ lol) just remember guys, u have a heli pad and you can shoot off in yr 'copter and leave it safe and sound with the captain and alllllllllllll of it's mostly sane and lovely crew x x x x x x

Caleb said that he is afraid to take a lengthy break at this time, while they are riding this wave of popularity. While they are cemented in Europe, it doesnt seem that they are still well known in the US, and one-two songs are not enough to build a rapport with the US audience. Lots of people here still dont know much of their stuff besides the last album, and to disappear now might prevent them from ever solidifying their popularity here. Question is--do they want to be super popular? Seems like they are battling with this very issue.
Maybe it's not them who are tired, but that boring-ass MOJO article that made them sound tired.

I can see this perpetuating onto the next reason not to, it's absolutely their choice and i agree i think they are battling with it. I think they always have, perhaps? The reaction to SoF, Caleb's in particular that i've noted, I'm not being harsh but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me in the grand scheme of things (namely a well-suited arena sounding album). It's these things i try hard to take a step back from and not get too involved with.

We really have picked a complex band to fall in love with haven't we! They wanna be big, but they don't want their next album to be commercial. They make all these music videos and then dnt release them (maybe the same thing as Fans - not wanting to be known for a particular sound??). They tour incessantly but are open (or misquoted) about the fact that they are sick of it. PS this is not a criticism against them or anyone else, I love them to pieces (obviously) and don't really care what their ambitions are, its just funny watching everyone (including me) try and figure them out!
