I'm desperate so I'm trying everything i can here! I want to see the Kings at Lollapalooza in Chicago but I dont want to travel there alone! I would go by car or plane or bus or train,it wouldn't matter how I got there but I want to have someone with me that is good at getting from one place to another! I'm pretty clueless when it comes to public transportation and airports and all that,so I need someone to be my travel buddy! I know a lot of you are going but the problem is I need someone to start my journey WITH me in Minnesota. It would be much more fun with someone else anyway! If anyone is willing to come to MN,i'd let you sleep at my apartment the night before we leave and the night we come back if you wanted! I dont care if we go just for the day of the Kings or for the whole thing, as long as I get to see them and have someone with me the whole time,i'll be happy!

Aw, are you the same person who posted on the KOL LJ community?
I hope you find someone. Maybe someone here will meet you at the airport?

LOL Yes i posted on LJ too...i figured there might be people in there who don't come on HA. Well if i flew there i wouldn't do it alone,i'd probably never even make it to my plane HERE lol I'm really bad when it comes to knowing how to get around anywhere. and if for some reason the person i was meeting didnt make it or we couldn't find each other,i'd freak out and have a panic attack or something LOL

I'll be at Chicago Midway on Friday morning if you want me to get you from the airport to the park. My hotel (if I decide not to stay with Carrie) is a block away from the park so I don't have to navigate public transportation after the concert. Flying is really the only way to go, to me anyway. I got my plane tickets to Chicago for about $59. Maybe you can fly to MCI (where I'm leaving from) and we can leave together Friday morning? I'd be willing to pick you up from the airport on Thursday (it would have to be at night) if you would be willing to fly to KC. It's not a very busy airport, so it's easy to fly to. But you really shouldn't fear going alone. I know that's probably easier said than done, but it's true. I decided if I want to do something, I'm doing it. I don't have cool enough friends to go with me.

Ugh...yes it is much easier said than done...i'm getting worried just imagining this LOL I'd still have to somehow get around at MY airport alone which is half my problem. I know there is the MegaBus which goes from Mpls to Chicago for less than $20,but that would be a long lonely 8-hour drive for me and then i dont know where that drops you off. You got a hotel already, but you might stay with Carrie? Is anyone else in your hotel room?

One King bed. $199 a night and they are now totally booked (or so the website said). You can't have someone drop you off at the airport? A taxi? I'm about an hour and a half away from the KC airport, so I had to learn real quick-like how to get to the airport. My parents got sick of taking me.

OMG i bet all the hotels in a 5 mile radius are already booked! I've never gotten a taxi before...thats what i'm saying,i suck so bad at public transportation,it took me and a friend 3 HOURS to even find how to get out of the airport when we went to California LOL It was so sucky. And when we were HERE,half an hour from my town, we got lost taking the bus and never did find where we were supposed to be going and it took us about 4 hours to get home! I am really worthless when it comes to getting around and i NEED someone that knows what they're doing

I m from Chicago, and it's a super easy city to navigate. All the streets are on a very simple grid. You dont even need to take public transportation.
I already have people staying at my place for the weekend, but I dont have the final number yet. If you are flying into O'Hare, I'd pick you up.
PM me and maybe we can arrange something.

It's downtown, the same place where the trains go. If you need to take a taxi somewhere, it's super easy to get one since they come by all the time.

This makes me nervous just thinking about it LOL Traveling alone to a big city is just too much for me, I wish there were some KOL fans in Minnesota damnit! (besides Meg...but she can't go). I have this wierd fear of being in a taxi by myself like the driver is gonna kidnap me or something LOL I don't even know how to get one! Can you just walk up to ANY taxi sitting there and get in? Do they take cash cards? lol Ugh I don't think I would be able to do this alone...I don't even do this kinda stuff where I live, being 8 hours from home in a huge city would freak me out.

Aww, don't worry about it so much! I know travelling alone can be intimidating. I'm like the shyest person I know, so stuff like this weirds me out a bit. But I've flown alone and got a taxi by myself a few times and it's not that bad. As far as hailing a taxi goes, the ones sitting right outside Union Station you can just go up to them and they'll take you. When I had to get there when I was visiting my brother, I just reserved a taxi online. You can also call a taxi ahead of time. I used www.flashcab.com They take cash and I'm pretty sure they take most major credit cards. The online reservation thing I used for them was here: www.ridecharge.com/s/il-chicago/taxi/branded/flash_cab They send you a text message when they're a few minutes away with the taxi number, so you can spot the right one. They also call you when the taxi arrives. Hopefully this helps! I'm hoping to go to Lollapalooza with a few friends too, so maybe I'll see you there

Ugh I don't know...I have time to think about Lolla since those tickets will never sell out. But the other shows, I'm not sure if I should buy tickets and then hope I can go. I don't like going to concerts alone and I would prefer to have at least one other person with me at all times. I'll let you know if I end up going!
