To tie-in with their imminent debut at the SXSW festival, where they will perform a number of acoustic showcases, The Proclaimers return with a digital-only EP ‘17’ released exclusively on LostTunes.com on 9th March 2009, followed by general digital release on 16th March 2009.
Opening this terrific set is The Proclaimers’ version of Kings Of Leon’s ‘17’ from their huge selling ‘Only By The Night’ album. The Reid’s poignant take on a story of under-aged drinking, which sees the subject move from wining to whining, could just as well be about any part of inner city Britain as it’s relevant to the Kings’ original subject matter. Capturing the acidic lyrical style that has become core to The Proclaimers, ‘17’ sounds like a Reid original, an evocative soap opera of everyday life that suits their distinctive harmonies perfectly.
Also featured on the EP are live versions of three tracks from 2007’s critically and commercially successful album ‘Life With You’, In Recognition, The Long Haul and S-O-R-R-Y, as well as the full version of the title track from the album.
‘17’ will be available as a 320k DRM-free MP3 from 9th March exclusively on Lost Tunes.com. This will be followed by a general digital release of the EP through al other major digital retailers.
This release precedes the arrival of a new studio album by The Proclaimers. The duo have been back in Rockfield Studios with producer Steve Evans recording their new studio album ‘Notes & Rhymes’, which is scheduled for a July 15th 2009 release date.

I was actually considering getting tickets to see The Proclaimers just to hear them perform ‘17’. Then my sister slapped me and I came round
