lol nice ^
so what i'm confused they're having a go at them because they're not local? but what? of course they're not. in a round about way, yeah. but i mean they grew up on the fcking road hahaha what?! that's so dumb. what is wrong with these people? anyway, i'm not exactly fully versed in the ways of the Nashville scene and all that but don't many successful artists - and those not so successful - like flock to the city cause of it's heritage and the fact that they'd hope that people there will get what they're trying to do with their music. so therefore who is local?
who's this paper run by? cause it's starting to sound to me like they're uhh kinda right wing and uhhh kinda short sighted to put it politely though from what i heard they don't deserve politeness.
does it really matter? - lol i just felt like a lecturer - shouldn't they just shut up? like, i dnt think the kings really have a base as such, used to ya know, but if they're calling nashville tennessee then they should appreciate it and be proud of them and welcome them not punish them for their upbringing when it's not -and i like may be completely wrong here, hey what do i know - exactly unheard of round those there parts.
how fcking stupid! they're just shooting themselves in the foot. seriously. twats!

You know, I often feel as though the boys deserve a better hometown. Me personally, I wouldn't want to live in an area or around people who constantly have negative things to say. Stop trying to represent a city that turns out the same old country shit over and over again (yes, I went there). Nashville as a "music" scene is overrated anyway. Screw this newspaper or whatever it is. I don't want to live in Nashville or visit it anyway. (Again, I totally went there) whoa dude. seriously?

Yeah, that was pretty much the point that lots of people made in response to that blog. Most "Nashville artists" aren't actually from Nashville. The Kings are from Tennessee/Oklahoma, and they've lived in Nashville since they were at school (Jared was like 10 or something). They're always on the road, yeah, but Nashville is "home" and has been for over ten years. The reason they don't seem like a local band to so many assholes on the 'scene' is because they didn't take the usual route when starting the band. Caleb & Nate got signed right away, and they released records and toured Europe before they'd "paid their dues" in Nashville. Their outsider status always made them more interesting to audiences around the world, whereas in Nashville it made some people suspicious and jealous. I'm sure there are loads of people there who are proud of them, but they don't feel the need to blog about it!

Being the Nashvillian that I am...I AM BEYOND PROUD TO CLAIM THE KINGS AS MY HOMETOWN BAND!
I can't tell you how many people and times I've went to bat for the Kings to stupid people around Nashville. The only reason most people even like the Kings here in Nashville is because it's the "cool" thing to do...to be seen at one of their shows. I for the life of me can't understand people here in Nashville either.
Just know that THIS NASHVILLE GIRL IS FOREVER PROUD AND LOVES KINGS OF LEON
as if any of them/or yall had any doubt. haha. Go Michelle! Keep on fighting the good fight. They should move to NZ....I'm pretty sure if you once came here for a holiday and you get famous you're considered a New Zealander. Famous and spent 10 minutes in an airport on a stopover? Congratulations! You're a New Zealander. That's how desperate we are for real celebrities.

What it really boils down too as Nathan says in behind the scenes of Use Somebody “jealous!” haha. Seriously though, people (mostly other struggling bands, but not all of them) are jealous in the way the Kings got noticed so fast. They don’t think it’s fair that they didn’t have to play small crappy bars for 2 or 3 years before getting recognized.
I will ALWAYS fight for the Kings because they are such good people who have endless talent in my eyes. If I didn’t feel the way I did towards them, then I wouldn’t care less about them. Which I wish other people in Nashville would do. Either you love them and support them or don’t like them and KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!
The “Nashville scene” itself is mainly a bunch of wannabe’s anyway. I mean seriously I walk out to venues around town and see tons of guys dressed just like Jared. I’m like “seriously? You’re really gonna dress like a member of Kings of Leon and then bash them? Get a life and get over yourself!” Ugh.

Exactly! For people who don't care about the Kings and don't think they're worth talking about, they sure devote a hell of a lot of column inches to 'em!

I just try to laugh at the Nashville Scene, cos their jealousy and pettyness is kinda funny. Sometimes it's hard to laugh though; like the day after the Grammy Awards the post on the Nashville Cream blog was " I must have gone to the bathroom when Kings Of Leon got their award. Did they say anything stupid?". A couple of weeks ago they did a post prompted by all the Nashvillians who deny that KOL are a "local band", asking what exactly qualifies a band as local. It was kind of tongue-in-cheek, and lots of the responses were pretty funny and self-deprecating. It kind of exposed the source of the bitterness towards the Kings. A "local band" is one that has a day job at Sir Pizza, plays endless shows to 22 people at local dive music bars, has members who have been in at least 6 other dead-end Nashville bands over the years etc etc. I guess the Kings can't be local, cos dammit, they're successful!! I read that and I think I left some sort of "shut the f**k up" message for them!!! I guess ur right tho...........better to laugh than actually take that petty small minded-ness seriously!!!!!
