I wasnt sure where to post this and didnt see another thread about this but what the f**k is their problem? I dont know the ins and the outs of the Nashville music scene but where I come from the majority of people would be damn proud to claim a grammy award winning, super talented band as their own, so why are they alway debating whether they are local or not as if its a bad thing? ? There are so many people who claim to be musicians/singers etc who can even sing one note on key never mind a whole song thats already written for them, most of them definately cant strum a guitar with any talent, nor keep the beat on the drums or play a bass, so why on earth would people, who claim to have some knowledge about, and appreciation of, music, not actually see and appreciate the kings ability to compose and sing all their own music (in studio and live). Why cant they appreciate that live shows arent all about million dollar sets that arent necessary when the band on stage can hold the attention of thousands and thousands of people with their music?? Why cant they appreciate the commitment the kings have had up to now to write songs that they can play live without any need to introduce computer aided sounds etc.? The latest offering: "but doesn't this feel just a bit like the Kings (or their people) are trying to buy a little cred with the hipster press? " What the hell is that supposed to mean? ?? (see blogs.nashvillescene.com/nashvillecream/2009/02/kings_of_leon_to_tour_with_the.php). I mean "their people" Why cant they just f**king appreciate the talent of the kings? *rant over* Until I get another google alert from that piece of shit "magazine" no doubt!!

Honestly Claire, I have no idea what personal vendetta they have against them, or what editor's girlfriend cheated on him with one of The Kings, but that excuse of a magazine is so damn pretentious I have had to stop going over there. I honestly feel that whoever writes those articles is some Nashville "musician" that is just bitter they could never make it. UGH!!!

i cannot stand nashville scene for the life of me.
if the only way to earn "credibility" amongst the hipster scene in nashville means being negative towards one of your own hometown bands and writing articles that are pretentious and snidely then i am so glad i have nothing to do with that scene.

Being the Nashvillian that I am...I AM BEYOND PROUD TO CLAIM THE KINGS AS MY HOMETOWN BAND!
I can't tell you how many people and times I've went to bat for the Kings to stupid people around Nashville. The only reason most people even like the Kings here in Nashville is because it's the "cool" thing to do...to be seen at one of their shows. I for the life of me can't understand people here in Nashville either.
Just know that THIS NASHVILLE GIRL IS FOREVER PROUD AND LOVES KINGS OF LEON
as if any of them/or yall had any doubt. haha.

hahaha. have some karma back for making me laugh. :-P I can't help but get like that about the Kings. It happens every time anyone disses them. Whether you like their music or not you have to admit that they deserve to be where they are now and have worked there butts off to get here!

You know, I often feel as though the boys deserve a better hometown. Me personally, I wouldn't want to live in an area or around people who constantly have negative things to say. Stop trying to represent a city that turns out the same old country shit over and over again (yes, I went there). Nashville as a "music" scene is overrated anyway. Screw this newspaper or whatever it is. I don't want to live in Nashville or visit it anyway. (Again, I totally went there)

Man that's a little rude to those who live there AND support the Kings simultaneously (ahem*MICHELLE*!)
No need to generalize like that!

*shrugs* Eh, it's the truth, but I was speaking to the boys themselves. Clearly this is the majority of the sentiment in that city. I personally wouldn't want to have anything to do with a city that can't at least respect what I do as an artist, but that's just me. *shrugs again*

And Nashville scene are so snobby and arghhh they frustrate me I can't even put it into words! They're the only band I have ever known this to have happen to them and it makes me speechless. I think it's disgusting.. I'm gonna have to stop now before my blood starts boiling! If I ever go there/next time I go to America I'm goin to take my tees and my tattoo which I'll have by then and wear them with pride!

it must be though right, i don't even know and i can tell that's the majority of the reason. it's like they want the band to produce papers or something, like jesus, yr kinda missing the point. uh! so yeah, at least there's always the fans on here, like Michelle and Fully, see, they have sense! they're who matter

yeah there's a few people from TN on here, it just frustrates me how some of the scene are real bullies i guess. I mean don't they have anything better to do with their time? Need to learn how to channel their negative energy into positive!

all i can assume from the whole thing is that they don't think they need to try and embrace new music oh i don't know. they should just give them a break, i mean technically, nathan and matt aren't from tennessee and for the upbringing, are caleb and jared? didn't they leave states, i mean they must of done, oh i don't know OH MY GOD!!! i just read "but doesn't this feel just a bit like the Kings (or their people) are trying to buy a little cred with the hipster press? " talk about fcking slow man! think they might have already done that like several years ago perhaps? ring any bells? no. cause yr fcking stupid! i bet right, they'll be all over them in a year. like oh but we didn't know that now we do we like you blah blah blah blahhhhhhhhhhhhh fark offffff edit: i just realised what i said. hmmmm. eek! i think i killed fred awwwww

I just try to laugh at the Nashville Scene, cos their jealousy and pettyness is kinda funny. Sometimes it's hard to laugh though; like the day after the Grammy Awards the post on the Nashville Cream blog was " I must have gone to the bathroom when Kings Of Leon got their award. Did they say anything stupid?". A couple of weeks ago they did a post prompted by all the Nashvillians who deny that KOL are a "local band", asking what exactly qualifies a band as local. It was kind of tongue-in-cheek, and lots of the responses were pretty funny and self-deprecating. It kind of exposed the source of the bitterness towards the Kings. A "local band" is one that has a day job at Sir Pizza, plays endless shows to 22 people at local dive music bars, has members who have been in at least 6 other dead-end Nashville bands over the years etc etc. I guess the Kings can't be local, cos dammit, they're successful!!
