You're never going to get a totally Kings of Leon fan based crowd at a festival like you would at one of their shows, so lots of people would only know the hits and of course they are going to play more of those songs to keep the majority of the crowd happy. Could you imagine the uproar if they only played 3 songs off OBTN and all the rest was from the first albums. That would kill their popularity. I think a lot of people on this forum have almost been over exposed to the band. We read about them everyday and look at pictures and talk to each other. Then we go to loads of gigs on every tour. After a while, the excitement goes from the shows and we feel disappointed and let down because they didn't play the one song we wanted to hear. I know after 20 gigs, I'm happy to take a rest and not see them until their next tour. I'm not even going to go to any of the festivals this year. By the next album, I'm going to be gagging to see them again and probably really want to hear that oldie "Sex on Fire"!^Good point! I hated On Call when it was the anthem of 2007, but now I love it! I know it's not the Kings fault that I didn't really like the gig. There were a lot of reasons. Like the people standing beside me, the big fight I had with my sister that evening, the heat, the comparison with their previous shows, and so on. My hopes were just too high, I guess . And Rienie, I also want them to play a real gig in Belgium. In the Lotto Arena or something, not the Sportpaleis, that's too big. And not in Brussels, 'cause it's hard for me to get there with public transport . the perfect kol gig for me would be.. smokey AB where they play spiral staircase and end up with a 10 mintue version of Trani.. dream on

I was there in the front rows on Jared's side, not at the barrier though (all the 16-year olds were ) I just thought it was great, sounded good, looked good and I was totally into it. Jumping all the time and having the time of my life. The only little sad thing was that the mics (and the guys) were standing a little far away from the edge of the stage. They just had no legs from my point of view And they didn't came forward much. I also thought the happy birthday song was weird, this guy who announced it was so wrong. But as I already read on here, I also did it for Nathan. 3x Rock Werchter and 3 times I was there, saw them growing bigger and bigger there. From guys in the first block all jumping together and going crazy to the screaming girls that are there now. And the Kings never dissapointed.

Here's a setlist, think it's the good one. They didn't go off the stage for an encore, just played the whole set which I thought was a really cool thing to do. Loved the slowed down music/jam thingy between Knocked Up and Manhattan when Caleb was having his small talk to the audience Be Somebody Taper Jean Girl My Party Molly's Chambers Red Morning Light Fans California Waiting Closer Crawl Four Kicks Charmer Sex On Fire The Bucket Notion On Call Slow Night, So Long Knocked Up Manhattan Use Somebody Black Thumbnail

sovie, i'm soo sorry you did not enjoy it as much as other times. i'm really proud of us "oldies" KOL fans. we're really giving them the benefit of the doubt during these "sex somebody" times. i'm sure there are many other former fans who have completely given up on them for this newfound blast of popularity. i'm sure there will be a time when we appreciate them just as much if not more than we did at previous shows! You're never going to get a totally Kings of Leon fan based crowd at a festival like you would at one of their shows, so lots of people would only know the hits and of course they are going to play more of those songs to keep the majority of the crowd happy. I didn't read the other pages, but here we go.. I was there, comepletely up front against the barrier in front of Caleb and Jared. To me it DID look like the were extremely committed, having fun, enthusiastic. I don't reckon I've ever seen Matthew dance so hard, even Jared was shakin' his hips at one point, Nathan was just blowin' along and Caleb was just.. Caleb I saw them just 6 days earlier in Luxemburg, I thought that was an amazing show as well. But the Werchter show blew out of proportions; fantastic. Of course I was disappointed in the audience, but it didn't stop me from dancing as hard as I could to all the songs, singing along, simply having fun. The setlist was great, imo, plenty of 'older' songs, and they chose just the right ones from OBTN. OF COURSE I'm going to be disappointed they didn't do Trani or McFearless or Cold Desert. But hey, in the end, I got served with a fantastic KOL show, I'm not going to nag about the lack of some of my favourites. I got to cry during Closer, got to scrreeeeeaaaaam during Black Thumbnail and got to simply enjoy the fantastic smile on Caleb's face after every one sang along to SOF. Can I just say that I almost wet my pants every single time Caleb gets down on his knees at the end of Black Thumbnail? It's the only fangirly moment I get during their shows (well, except for the occasional hipswings), so I gotta share..

I just compared it too much to the last time I saw them, I think. That concert was pure perfection, so it's hard to compete with that. But I'm sure they'll amaze me some time again in the future!

A show in a venue is always (well, usually) going to be better. I always just try and act like it's the first time I'm going to see a band, and it works. To me, every show is different. And I can honestly say it takes a LOT for me to call it a bad show, I guess I'm just not that high-demanding or anything. Just expect the worst, and you'll be happily surprised.

It is weird! I try and i just can't get it to sound right, not like the guy on the video! I don't know what to do to make my mouth make the sound! So frustrating!

It's funny because in the Netherlands they make a difference between a "hard" g or ch and a "soft" g or ch.
People in the south of the country say the soft version, like the person in the video. But in the north they have a harder sound, making it louder and harsher. Lol, it's a bit hard to explain. Thing is, people who are used to the "soft g" usually can't say the hard g and vice versa.
Sorry, I'm boring you guys..

I guess you can compare the ch with the pronounciation of the J in moJitio, the Spanish way.
And you have to make that R rooooollllll.
WerrrrrrJterrrrrrrr
TRY!!!
