Yikes. This is from www.examiner.com/x-3423-Billings-Events-Examiner~y2009m5d24-Saturday-at-SasquatchKings of Leon capped the night, their last show of their current tour. The band rolled into a slew of hits from their latest albums "Because of the TImes" and the Grammy-nominated "Only By the Night," including the fan favorite, "Sex on Fire." The band's brawny frontman and rhythm guitarist Caleb Followill, wearing a red flannel and sporting a beard, elicited several squeals from his followers. The band was disappointing live. Followill was noticeably drunk, which is to be expected from the rock 'n roll lifestyle he leads, but missed some lyrics and the band as a whole stumbled on parts of their songs and had difficulty transitioning from song to song.Looking out to the audience, Followill expressed his awe with the Gorge, performing for the first time on its stage. "It's our first time here and I had no idea how beautiful it was," he told the crowd. It was satisfying to hear the power of "Cold Desert," the yelping "Charmer," and the ambiance of "Knocked Up," but the band seemed dislocated. Perhaps fame came too quick for the gritty southern charmers.

Thanks for posting that!! Id like to hear a review from a fan that was there cause Im not sure I believe that Caleb missed lyrics?!? Im also pretty sure fame hasnt come too quick For fuck sake, they've been working at this for years, they allegedly forget some lyrics and all of a sudden they're "dislocated", what the fuck kinda word is that to describe a band anyway? I know I sound like someone who cant handle seeing the Kings being criticised but I really think many critics have personal agendas against them. The green eyed monster is a terrible thing. I will take all of that back if a fan who was at the show honestly tells me they didnt do a good show!!!

Here's another review someone posted on the official KOL forum: May 24, 2009 by Travis Hay Sasquatch! 2009 Day 1: Animal Collective (sort of), Decemberists, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kings of Leon Kings of Leon They said they weren’t proper headliners. They said they weren’t big enough to draw a crowd. They can’t play stadium-ready rock. They aren’t at the level of Beastie Boys, Pixies, the Flaming Lips and others who have headlined Sasquatch! in years past. They were wrong. I was one of those doubters, questioning whether KOL are headliner-caliber material. Their set erased every doubt I had. It was loud, fun, energetic and really, just good rock music in general. I’m not as familiar with their material as I would like to be but I did recognize about a half dozen songs including “Sex On Fire,” which came about midway through their headlining jaunt. Aside from breaking out a pretty impressive arsenal of songs, a fancy light show added to the stadium rock show effect. Unfortunately the show was KOL’s last for while but I must say to Kings of Leon, that I apologize for doubting you. Take yourselves a break, record a new album and come back to Seattle and show all the other doubters who weren’t at Sasquatch! just how wrong they were. Kings of Leon’s bombastic rock under the stars was a fitting end to Day 1 of Sasquatch! 2009. With Jane’s Addiction and NIN on tap Sunday it looks like 2009 could be the year that rock ruled at Sasquatch! www.earcandybeat.com/?q=node/141

^^ Karma for posting that...they sound great, a far cry from what that reviewer was talking about. Seems like there are a few haters out there trying to take the Kings down. But the proof is easy to find as evidenced here!

From spin.com and buzznet.com Kings Of Leon you are just so damn hot, not just because Billboard ranks your music on the top charts, or because your song 'Sex On Fire' was one of the most played songs in 2008, but because you really are the best looking group out there. I actually think your music could suck and I would still watch you. Lucky for you, your music is amazing and your live performance is even more amazing. The crowd at Sasquatch could not have asked for a better show and since it was your last show after a year long of touring, you really went out with a bang! Thanks to your 1.5 hour long set, I actually got to fall asleep early in the campgrounds that night. Well played Kings Of Leon, you were the perfect headliner for the opening night of Sasquatch. But what's a view without an apt soundtrack? Sasquatch had a pick-your-poison selection for your party at the edge of the earth. And really, if this is to be the site of the Armageddon, as one can certainly begin to think when gazing into the frightening chasm, Kings of Leon want people to remember them in the afterlife. Frontman Caleb Followill has made it okay for critics from the Northwest music scene -- the DIY, K Records-lovin' peeps with highfalutin tastes -- to scream "your sex is on fire" with 20,000 other people as four dudes who look like models for Wal-Mart's latest "hip" clothing line rock onstage. These Southern kin are THE American band. Their Saturday night set was tight, nearly two hours, and showed a band at their best. "This is the end of our tour, so we're gonna let loose a little for ya," said Caleb. The girls swooned. The dudes sort of wanted to, too. And that was just the first night.
