Yup indeedy it won the best European Festival Award last year! Of course I agree!
Here's an article:
"Ireland's Oxegen Festival won the Yourope Award for Best European Festival at the UK Festival Awards tonight (30 October). The Dublin event took the honours at the gala ceremony at London's indigO2, beating off stiff competition from Benicassim (FIB), Open Air St Gallen and last year's winner EXIT Festival.
Its sister event, Scotland's T In The Park, was also among the winners, picking up the Best Line-Up gong.
Both events had Rage Against The Machine, R.E.M., Kings Of Leon and The Verve performing alongside the likes of Amy Winehouse and The Prodigy.
T In The Park wasn't Scotland's only winner on the night as Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival took away the prize for Best Grass Roots festival."

I'm persistant.
On another note to correct some information from that article - Oxegen is not in Dublin it's in Co Kildare and why was and Irish festival included in the UK festival awards?

I'll see what I can do Ruth. I want to go, but I can't make any promises. The biggest obstacle is parents thinking I've gone mental and plane tickets.

I have no idea what "Oxygen" is, but there's no way I can take more time off the rest of this year. I took 4 days off from work so far this year, and I have two week-long fishing trips planned for later this summer to Canada and Minnesota. Count me in if you're all going to this thing in 2010, but don't look for me in 2009. PS. If someone would like to finance this trip for me, I'd be up for further discussion.

Brad, firstly apologies for referring to you as a girl earlier (see above)! Anyway Oxegen (yes it is spelled that way) is Ireland's best festival that KOL are headlining on July 11. The first ever band to headline it twice. See www.oxegen.ie for more details. Brad, I think you should call in sick to work and hop on a plane for it! Ah I totally understand you all have to consider money and such things but if any of you could do it, it would be truly fantastic.
