Trani - it was the video of them at T in the Park 2007 that made me notice it. Manhattan - it was last night in Glasgow that did it for me, and what Caleb said before it. It actually made me cry. that video is amazing. what did he say before manhattan? He said stuff about how America was trying to claim them, but we can't let them, and the guys know that it was us that did it ("found" them) and he said and I quote "You guys made us the Kings" And in Manhattan at the line "It's all for you, for what you've found" Caleb looked so sincere and was nodding to the crowd and just sang it like he meant it.

It seems weird to me that Trani has been cited so much. I wonder why, because I've always loved it so much and I know it fits in to a tradition of songwriting that I've always enjoyed. I'm wondering whether it perhaps is just different from what people were used to listening to? I'd be interested if anyone wants to comment. well, you have that fast songs on YAYM and then trani is so different from the rest. it's not so catchy. in my case i had to listen to it sometimes to put it on my head and to "understand" it you know? Thank you all for giving me your explanations - I kind of see what you mean about not so catchy and how the pattern is different from 'verse, chorus, verse, bridge' etc - and if a song is not as accessible to you it probably is going seem boring! (boring? boring?? hehe!) Glad you all like it now though - it's class - and my dream is to see it live - so KOL had better stop mucking about and put it in the set when I see them!

Haha that threw me through a loop too that so many originally didn't like Trani! When I first heard that song, I was in tears when it ended and thought it was one of the most epic and amazing songs I've ever heard. I'm glad you all love it now!

Soft. Hated it. Didn't even listen to it for a couple of years. I just hated its sound - too plinky. However since coming on here I've been nudged to give it another go (thanks to Claire/Schnucams) I now have a lot of respect for it - it must be one of the most sarcastic tunes I know and words and music work cleverly together. My opinion. Wouldn't say I love it though. WOHOO!!! Keep listening.....it wont be long til ur singing it in the shower at the top of ur voice, first thing in the morning

notion.
long story: after watching the 'roo' interview on youtube it gave me a bad feeling about how the guys were back then, partying too much and doing drugs way too much. (as much as i like mtvhotel i don't like watching them party like that, i dunno, gives me a bad feeling) anyway after watching/listening to more recent interviews when caleb talks about how they probably wouldn't be here today if they kept up that lifestyle the song started to make more sense for me. and in home movies when caleb talks about the lyrics made me appreciate the song even more.
I just wanted to know if I could go home Been rambling in day after day And everyone says I don't know So don't knock it, don't knock it, you've been here before
they just really got to me and made me happy for the boys and how much they've matured.
i heard this song the other day while driving and it made me choke up/cry a little. thank you moodswings!!

Trani ~ seeing it live on youtube from years ago just made it sound really epic Crawl ~ thought it was pfft, but after hearing the rest of the album and realised it was probably the one that rocked the most its my favourite off of it. Charmer ~ hearing it live in person made me fall in love with it. I can't really sit down and listen to it, I have to up and dancing to it.. Knocked Up ~ too long, made me shudder, now it gives me chills in a really really good way, love it....one of my favs off BOTT

I have another one to add. Crawl. When I first heard it, it just kinda sounded like noise, you know? But seeing it live at T, then in Glasgow, I have come to my senses and realised what a bloody awesome song it is!

If anyone even breaths on me when they play this song on Friday night I'm gonna kick some ass - mattman style!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
