Is trani about a transvestite or a tranistor radio because i saw someone say that the radios are often referred to as trani's where as a transvestite is known as a tranny?.
Also, the lyrics suggest a radio because it says 'white noise sound like a trani on ten'. I think ten means the volume level thingy.

When I first got into KOL, I was asking my mum what Trani was about.. haha I go "is it about transvestites..?" and she goes "maybe, but it could be about a radio"
But I think in that making of KOTR vid, Jared goes "it's another song about tranvestites (about KOTR), we do that a lot"

Welllll, at Wembley last year when they played Trani a picture of a tranny came up on the screen for the whole song. So I'm guessing it's about a tranny! At least partly anyways

Maybe it was originally about a radio but people thought it was about a transvestite so they decided to go with that instead

I read an interview once that said that after opening for Bob Dylan, supposedly Bob came backstage and asked "What was that last song you guys did?" The band replied "Trani, a song about transvestite hookers.", to which Bob answered "That's a hell of a song". The band thought that was about the coolest thing that had ever happened to them.

Nahhh, white noise, spelling it trani, must be about sound distortion from an amp on full volume (isn't trani the commonly used word in the States for an amp??). Personally, when I first heard it, I just heard "tranny on gin", and immediately assumed it was all about pissed-up cross dressing hookers. But hey, there's no wrong or right here

Yeah maybe it's a play on words!! Like a double entendre! It is actually, It's about a transvestite with a play on words for an actual transistor radio. I agree. It's pretty obvious in the beginning of the song he talks about 'Cheap trick hookers.' Maybe it's just me, but I think he's comparing the sound of this person getting beat up or assaulted, to the loud static on a radio and he's using the play on words as a metaphor. I mean when he's singing 'lay it on the ground' & 'fingers in the dirt, and he's spitting out his teeth' combined with his shrill screaming at the end... it sounds so disturbing, like that loud noise that bothers you coming from radio static.
