Completely and utterly fallen in love with a song all over again, unexpectedly so that it stops you dead in your tracks, reaches somewhere inside you, and grabs your soul and turns it upside down? I'm on here, I don't post but I've just listened to Knocked Up and was seriously knocked sideways. I sound like a twat now but fuck it. Shit that song is so amazing, needed to share it with someone. I knew it was amazing but this time I don't know what the fuck happened, so raw I was just taken it... and I'm babbling now but you get the idea.

Well, it's nice to see some positive things, so yeah, I know what you mean actually. That's how I feel about King of the Rodeo.

Nope you are not alone. I feel that way about songs on a regular basis
They really have a strangely huge affect on me, don't know why.

That happens to me a hell of a lot. You are not alone! Some songs I may have dismissed in the past, then listen to again and think Its a really good feeling when that does happen though.

I always get nervous when I really love a song, because I play it so much I'm afraid I may wear it out But then another one comes along and all is well

i think this post is relevant but i was overseas last year and had kings of leon on my ipod constantly and many of the songs that arent my favourites have special places in my heart for example slow night so long and spiral staircase remind me of missing a train and a flight in the same day hahahaha and charmer reminds me of when i worked as a gardener in england in the pissing down rain. some of the songs just bring back quirky little memories which cheer me up even though they arent some of my most favoured songs

YES! i love it when that happens...it's just so strong and so intense it's just *WOW*... it happened to me with Knocked Up and Closer. But sometimes it's not the entire song, sometimes it's a particular part..like the hum in Milk, the guitar at the end of Trunk and for some reason the part in Woo Hoo where caleb sings *she's gonna cry when the storm comes...* for some reason those lyrics just make me go *YES! REWINDS! listens to it too many times*

I agree with everyone here, Trani has that effect on me, for years i used to skip it on the CD never really took to it, then seen them playing it live and it just clicked! i went home and played it on repeat for about an hour, its absolute genius that song!! Recently thought ive been giving Day Old Blues repeat plays, again i never really bothered about it much until recently, its such a beautiful song

Knocked Up for me too. I'd heard Charmer and On Call before and I loved them but after the first listen of Knocked Up I knew I was in deep

This is gonna sound really cheesy, but ah well! I got it with True Love Way, when Caleb sings "you don't say, you just hold your breath, so I can't touch what I haven't yet" And I literally held my breath. Like it took my breath away.
And when stuff happened in my life, I was listening to Cold Desert, and then it all kinda made sense, and I cried my fecking eyes out!
But I love it when a song makes you feel like that.

It also happened recently when i listened to Manchester Orchestra's Where Have You Been

Katie, that isn't cheesy at all. I love that line in the song, there's something about the way he sings it that makes me go all soft inside. I also love "girl you're wanted like a wanted man, with your smart mouth and your killer hand". I die a little each time I hear it. I think it's a beautiful thing when music moves you. Whether it be in a sad or happy way. There's a good few KOL songs that I connect with. Trunk is incredibly special to me, but the one that gets me every time is Use Somebody. It just felt so right, and summed up how I was feeling during the time I first heard it. Even now that the personal stuff that was dragging me down is done, I still get emotional when I listen to it. So maybe I haven't resolved my personal stuff after all then. Music is a great healer. It's certainly gotten me through some dark times.

I think KOL is the one band that has managed to capture my heart like this on so many different songs. And like somebody else pointed out, it's not always entire songs but small segments of different tunes - like the hum in Milk, certain lyrics in Woo Hoo, the power in My Third House...
There's one tune though that really, really got to me from the first listen: Manhattan, and it still does it for me every time I hear it. I was cleaning my house on Saturday and I had made a playlist of KOL tunes, The Killers and Pearl Jam. I was downstairs clearing out my bedroom and I heard Manhattan come on upstairs, and I felt too sad to be missing it so I ran upstairs to listen to it, like it was one of those songs rarely played on the radio - although I've access to it any time! That song just captured my soul, and it picks me up when I'm feeling down or agrees with me when I'm feeling happy!
