now that i think about it, it might be about jared but according to this site the song is about the band's manager. but then again who knows?  |

oh look, my memory is shit, so maybe someone needs to help out but i know it was in an interview somewhere where caleb said it was about being away from home on tour and turning into a real asshole - all demanding and so on and how you end up hating the person youv'e become and would like to kill that person off. I'm racking my brains and can't place it yeah, my memory ain't the best either but, yes my take is that it's about loads of different things. Caleb talked in that interview about changing into a different person when your away from home for so long. 'baaaaaalllldddiiiiinnngg' Is talking about calebs receeding hairline i'm pretty sure. Then there's that line about assisted suicide. and i also heard it's about jared, i'm sure the "eiiiigghhtteeennn!" is abviously about him. Aah i like the little fact the someone gave about 'japanese scream' being jareds high pitched laugh, and the bass being japanese. I always assumed it was talking about japanese fans, because i remember in one particular interview they seemed to portray the idea that they did not actually enjoy touring in japan. |

Caleb has said quite a few times that it's about turning into a spoilt asshole, and then realising what you've become and trying to "kill off" that person so that you can get back to being someone decent (i.e. telling your spoilt asshole self to kick the bucket). He referred to being on the road and always having someone to do everything for you.

Yeah I'm pretty certain Caleb said that this song is about himself.
He's talking to the bad side and saying how he's like a total bastard to the manager etc on tour.
And then he wants to kill off his bad side.
Pretty certain it's not about Jared.
Although the 18 reference is slightly confusing!
