Was anybody else at the Houston show last night? Was it just me or did the sound suck, and did Caleb seem super pissed? Does anyone know what was up?

i was there, me and all my friends noticed the same thing. it seemed like he was upset that the crowd didn't really seem to be into it... i thought the sound was ok but at the end of the show he threw his mic stand down maybe because of the sound...

Caleb was really pissed off. I don't know if anyone else noticed but he would act like he was going to throw his guitar pick into the crowd and then just throw it backstage.
The crowd really sucked last night, no movement and most everybody sang for Sex on Fire only. Caleb did say "For a Texas crowd, you guys sure are quiet" in which everyone yelled...I think that was a cue to get more in to it.

Aww no . That really sucks for you guys. Caleb was probably even more pissed off than usual by the non-responsive crowd because from all reports the audiences so far on this tour have been pretty awesome.

Oh no. When the sound is bad, it really affects him and if the crowd aren't rocking out, he doesn't try to get them more into it. Just takes it personally and gets moody. Really sorry to that for you guys. Hope it didn't ruin the concert for you too much though.

I never go to the official forum either but I followed your link, and wow - really good, intelligent and insightful reviews! Sadly they all thought the show was disappointing, but at least they gave valid reasons for it (same as the posters above). I think they're right - the band, particularly Caleb, needs to rise above a lacklustre crowd and work extra-hard to get them into it. If that means pulling out the cheesy chat between songs, well then that's what they've gotta do. I know Caleb hates talking between songs, but if it's between that and him sulking I'll take the cheesy chat every time! EDIT: here's the setlist for you MacFearless: Main Set: Crawl; My Party; Razz; Molly's Chambers; Taper Jean Girl; Sex on Fire; Be Somebody; Fans; Revelry; Milk; Four Kicks; The Bucket; Use Somebody; On Call; Closer; Cold Desert; Slow Night So Long Encore: Knocked Up; Manhattan; Charmer

I've been to gigs where the band aren't that great but the singer's had such charisma that you come away thinking the gig was brilliant. He needs to not sulk but get the crowd going and cheering. A great gig is when the band & crowd work off eachother.

At the same time I think they are what they are and you love it or you dont!! I'm torn!! No more Mollys tho eh???!!!!! Trani boys, Trani!!!! You know you want to :-p Thanks for that link blackjeans!! karma I just read comments, woah, slitting throat actions etc., a bit much me thinks! Caleb I love you but grow up!!!

You can tell it's hard for him to play a great show especially when he's sick and still try to get everyone into it. He just stops trying, its not a good thing but it's nice that he takes himself so seriously.
And thanksf or posting the link to the official site, I enjoyed reading those reviews.

I was about 2 feet from the security gate, right in front of Caleb, and there was a group of really obnoxious high school kids (no offense to high school kids) who kept yelling for Caleb to throw them picks. I'm pretty sure that's why he started throwing them to the side of the stage. They were also constantly yelling for Nacho, even during the other bands' sets, which I thought was incredibly rude. And yeah, he sat down during Knocked Up and shook his head like he was saying "No" during one part of the song. Also, for pretty much the whole show, I couldn't hear anything he was saying or singing because the vocals were so quiet. Thankfully, I saw them in Austin as well, and they rocked it out there. Caleb said a couple of times that it was the best show thus far. I'm not surprised by that, though. Austin's an awesome city with an incredible appreciation for live music.

Thanks for that Kheili. I'm glad you got to see them in Austin too because from all accounts that sounded like an awesome show. Sounds like last night in Dallas rocked too.
