Use Somebody is one of my favorite songs off the latest album, but I don't really like the video as much as I thought I would.

These are my favorite covers of the song on Youtube, I really love the tone of the guy in the first one and the second video has one of the few people to attempt Caleb's style and not fail miserably.

ok, so in this interview jared talks about how they were influenced, especially him...so it seemed, by M83's "Don't Save Us From the Flames"

BIG BIG BUMMER for me...b/c i knew it "Use Somebody" sounded familiar but then again i thought "Arizona" sounded like the Free Willy theme song and everyone thought i was crazy (i still think it does).

Anyway, i quickly searched through my itunes music and took a listen to the song AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW, IT'S PRETTY MUCH THE SAME SONG. I mean i love love love "Use Somebody" and maybe if i hadn't seen the interview and listened to the song right after he mentioned it, i wouldn't think the same, but for now...i'm a bit disappointed. Now i know why i love the song so much...b/c i fucking adore M83 and "Don't Save Us From the Flames." I just had to put this out there and kinda vent...
I'm NOT saying anything negative about the kings or use somebody b/c i still think it's their song...but i guess i'm just disappointed that i might very well be in love with the song b/c it resembles another song so much. Oh well...use somebody is NOT don't save us from the flames...so i guess there should be no cause for complaints.

When I heard him say that next time I listened to DOn't Save Us From The Flames I realised the way Use Somebody comes in and dies down bares a resembelence, but I didn't think the whole song is the same? Maybe I need to listen again

M83 fans on Youtube are all 'M83 wrote this before KOL so they ripped them off' so I really hope they don't see that interview!

'Don't Save The Flames' is an amazing song and I can see the resemblance but Use Somebody is so so so good!

^ agreed....i love Use Somebody, and, i mean, it really isn't the same song...it's just too similar to Don't Save Us From the Flames for me to have the same appreciation. I thought KOL was fucking brilliant for writing such a beautiful song...and i still think Caleb has such talent for writing...REALLY, I DO. Still, the lyrics, meaning, and overall feel aren't identical. The song in terms other than, what i thought was an original sound, is still amazing. I still LOVE the kings for their efforts and successes in their work...it's just this kind of made me sad...i don't really know why. Still...KINGS OF LEON ARE AMAZINGLY UNIQUE AND TALENTED AND I KNOW, OR AT LEAST HOPE, THEY WOULDN'T RIP ANY ARTIST OFF BY STEALING THEIR WORK! Maybe they just took too much inspiration...which we can ALL be guilty of.

Being completely original is impossible...everything's already been done, there are TONS of songs that sound similar in the whole 'go quiet mellow then kick ass drum cymbal frenzy' type vein...
