Personally, I would like to see the following on their next album: 1. I would like for them to pack up the synthesizers and put them in storage. Perhaps bring out a real piano. 2. I would like for them to stop writing songs that they think would sound good in a stadium. The Rolling Stones never took this approach to songwriting and I don't think KOL should either. It makes their songs sound kinda bland. 3. No more songs about vampires. That's like writing a song about.....ninja turtles. It's kinda silly. 4. I wish they would go back to their roots a little bit more. I liked their sound when it was more 'raw'. 5. And last but not least...... MORE COWBELL!!!  |

i agree totally about the stadium bit and synth just makes good songs that they can't play live (excluding On call)

I have to agree.
I mean, if they want to be influenced by a band, screw U2. Take a hint from the Stones and Led Zeppelin.
Oh, btw... which song is about a Vampire? EDIT -I see it's Closer. That's one of my favorites on the album.

Okay, lets see, I'm okay with the direction they're going. I still do miss the raw sound, but I love their new stuff as well, and I'm glad to finally hear Caleb really sing his heart out. Main thing that gets to me, is the huge amounts of effects with Matt's guitar! Maybe he's just using them because he's found them and thinks they're awesome, but I miss the guitar tone from red morning light, and four kicks for example. If anything use a little wah wah, it does magic.
As far as the synth goes... I like synth, hell I love synth, but only when it isn't the main insturment, and it disappoints me when they don't play the songs live due to not having anyone to play synth.
So I propose they get Nacho to learn keyboards if he doesn't already, and bring him on stage.
