We all read the UK chart thread and WELL DONE BOYS! You've won over the Brits once again. I'd like to know from the American fans how the airplay and foresights in the US are looking like though. Are they getting played on MTV? Tell me please, I'm dying to know as I know that what The Kings long for so badly is to get an equal success in The States.

I've actually started to hear Sex on Fire on the radio locally (Milwaukee, WI) I've heard it a couple of times, but I don't listen to the radio much so I guess I don't really know. I was pretty blown away to hear them on the radio though.

riverwolf22, here in Europe we get hip hop too, but with moderation y'know. We also get plenty of the rest. I've seen Sex On Fire passing a bunch of times now! That's pretty unusual for a Kings Of Leon clip. I just really hoped the same was happing in The States.
That's pretty exiting news shakermaker! Can anyone else share? Somebody that watches the M TVs and whatnots? Or listens to big radio stations? Maybe, we should do a massive promoting before the album even comes out. Hm, just thinking out loud, but I'm totally up for it.

They're playing SNL this weekend. They'll probably blow up with this album. I can see it now: all of my friends singing YOUR SEX IS ON FIRE! only because they heard it on the radio. But so far, I haven't so who knows.

1. I don't see them on MTV 2. I don't hear them on the radio 3. I see their album in some stores, but not all
BUT
4. They are going to be on Saturday Night Live 5. Alot of people I know have commented on my myspace song (Sex on Fire) and said that they like it. These are people that aren't familiar with KOL.
Things are definitely changing for them in the US. They are playing in a large venue in DC this year and I myself was only able to get not-that-great seats. Last year I was in the front row of a small club.

Hey thanks for the info I think SNL is going to be their big breakthrough as well. Sorry that you could only get sucky tickets (even though it's a good sign for the kings). Maybe you could buy some better tix on the internets?

As for KOL being big in the US, I don't know if that is necessarily a good thing. There are plenty of mainstream bands that I like (The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Killers, etc.), but usually bands that are aired on MTV are crap like Nickelback and My Chemical Romance. If I started seeing KOL in a line-up with them, that would be awful. I think having a smaller fanbase in the US may actually be better for them. At least if they want to stay respected.

I actually want it because The Kings want it and what makes them happy makes me happy snappy. Although...if they get big over there will they be as much over here?

Jack White is my favorite modern musician. period. Well, if KOL wants to be really big in the US, then I guess you're right. But I think they need to go the route that The White Stripes and Raconteurs did. They're big, they're mainstream, but they don't get placed in line-ups with crap MTV bands. They're still really respected. If KOL makes it big, it will be with this album. I guess time will tell! We'll know soon enough how things go. Saturday Night Live is definitely the first big step.

Ditto! He's our generation's one man Led Zeppelin! But they get respected because (almost) everything they make is so good. that's the thing you have to do at all times be goooooood and then more. Yes, SNL...and then we'll see. Or for the impatient:

i went into a bar tonight and they had sex on fire and also every other kings of leon album besides only by the night... I put so much money worth of their songs lol. I just checked for their songs not even a month ago on those online jukeboxes most bars have now and didnt see kings of leon, so i imagine they are getting pretty well known if they had all theri albums including sex on fire... by the way a few of my friends and some people around me were asking what song it was (sex on fire) after I played it.
