Has anyone else been irked by the trailer on radio one that KoL is "one of the best bands in the world, you just don't know it yet"?
I knew in 2003 that they were on course to be THE best band in the world ( purely objective opinion based on scientific research!)
One year ago it was Kings of What? and my daughter couldn't give a spare ticket away........now tickets are sold out in 3 minutes.
Most of me thinks that's great that KoL are getting the recognition they deserve. But why were they ignored for so long?

^^^ omg i TOTALLY agree.
I am so happy for the boys - finally getting the attention they deserve. that being said, i'm getting so cut with all my friends who used to tease me about liking them, and now they're all obsessed with sex on fire. i guess its just annoying coz that film clip caught their attention . grrrr . i just hope that if these people buy their new album, they also buy the others because those albums are GENIUS and they would reallyyyy be missing out on some awesome music. what a shame.

Yeah my mate totally loves them now, and i could never get her to go to KOL gig years ago, she said they were too heavy for her to listen to, i always get my 2 cents in by saying "well i liked them before they were big" she hates that!

god yes i think i told you so! all my friends apart from one, hate the kings and i just dont understand it. Now all of a sudden some of them are getting into more rockier music.. and next thing i know, my one friend who used to say "their crap they sound too country, he sounds like a farmer" All of a sudden was like ooh i well like sex on fire. ........ 5 minutes later... "could you send me charmer?" basically she was youtubing them and now saying she likes them.
It takes more then that to be a fan! Grrr its so infuriating!!

none of my friends like them. nobody at work knew who they were. sex on fire is rarely played in a small radio station in san diego.
so i'm still waiting to say "i told you so"

None of my friends understand my undying love for the music of KoL. Before, some of them used to make fun of me for liking that band with weird hair and beards, now they're like, "oh yeah, they're so hot...wait, they're that band? And they're brothers?" Arrrggghhh!

in some ways id rather not have that feeling....ya know what i mean? rather just keep em to myself in some ways, but like you say it is good that they're getting big....just not too big lol I know what you mean. Luckily my friends have a developed enough music taste that they either like them or they don't. We're all really big on music so we do our own research etc and luckily we don't really listen to the radio so noone's jumped on the bandwagon. And we all listen to our own crazy shit so we don't pay each other... That said I don't think the new stuff would pull my friends in anyway. Way too commercial. I mean, I enjoy it but it takes a few listens and in my opinion it still doesn't match up to their older stuff. I'd take Youth and Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak over what I've heard from Only By the Night any day but I spose the rest of the record could win me over. So on a larger scale I'll whinge about their new target audience (teenage girls)... I don't want to think too much about what their next gig will be like. Fan girls et al. That said last arctic monkeys gig I went to was really fun and they're really mainstream so who knows.
