Hey i didnt point you out. You actually seem like a music fan. Anyone who mentions the brothers knows good music. read some of the little poems and the girls "defining" the band by the way they look. And i said nothing about who can or should like them, but more who they are trying to please, and its not the "music" fan. And i found some band that finally wasnt boring, mundane, and produced, they are the Kings of Leon, but then they made a boring record that doesnt compare to their prior one's in my opinion. and i know bands must grow, and cant put out the same shit over and over, but they also need to keep some soul in the process, especially if that was their best quality in the beginning. in my estimation, they wan't to be liked so bad(cant blame them really) that he started singing different, and they slowed it down because "on call" was a hit. I like the songs, but not the record as a whole. I get bored because there's no Black thum, slow night, rememo, ragoo, or any high enery soulfully sung tune that get's me going. And i brought up the jonas brothers to make a point that evidently was not made. I wasn't taking shots at females either, just expressing my opinion. I was going to say something smart, but I won't. Instead, I'll only ask this: How would you define them? If someone wants to define them by the way they look, let them, or by a poem, I don't really care. That shouldn't effect you or anyone else. This isn't some lecture class where we major in Kings of Leon and there's one right answer. I guess this also means you're one of those who couldn't wait until the album came out and just had to have/find/steal it?  And I know you weren't talking about me in particular, but being that I am female and you think for some reason I'm being catered to just for that fact, I had to put you in your place and let you know, not all of us are like that. They aren't the Beatles or one of those boy bands, where chicks go crazy for them and pass out and die and crap. I want them showing emotion and singing about more than just getting laid all the time, cuz let's be honest how many Kings songs are about sex and girls? Like, a lot.  |

How should it not affect me? If they can have their opinion then i can surely have mine.
And i know not all females are like that, but the one's that are are the one's they are targeting, because they run to the mall and buy up the albums. The one's that like their music are the one's who have been there when they had beards, long hair and a raw edge.
And yes i was one of them who couldnt wait because i couldnt wait to hear the creativity that they display.
I was in my place before you said a word, thats why you responded.
And i think i have said enough to describe how i would define them. Music is my thing, and they are maybe my favorite band (living), and thats why i'm on here sharing my opinion.

NO!!!!!! I define them by their music. That's my beef with the whole thing. Your post was about them and their talent, some others were just about their looks. And thats my issue with THEM, not the girls that express their fantasies. They seem to want to change for the wrong reasons, and i'm kinda guessing on that but its how i feel.
And when they had beards and that you didnt find them caring about who listened, and it reflected in their songs, just listen to the first 3 albums.
And i want nothing as far as how they look, i want their music to define them. You telling me that between YAYM, Aha vs BOTT and this one , that he hasnt changed the way he sings? Now BOTT was mixed, he still had that raw soul but also toned it back a bit, which was great. Now the raw is almost gone, and i feel the reason why is they are trying to please the average fan.
And i'm sorry for categorizing you, "nathan-holic"

This is why the new album sucks. They can care less about being musically genius anymore because LITTLE girls will go crazy for them even if they cant carry a tune to save their lives. The music industry is about a pretty face anymore, just look at how popular that horseshit talentless country music is. Look at the majority of the forum members. This is supposed to be the rugged and raw Kings of Leon, not the motherfuckin pour little souls that are the jonas brothers. Don't start the high school come backs sayin i'm jealous please. I am just disappointed with the slow, repetitive new album that the band said would "rock harder" Jonas Brothers make me want to be sick in my mouth. And if KOL went shit, then i wouldn't listen to their new material, but from what i've heard i'm gonna love it. So...? |

seriously, what is with this board now? i've been lurking around here for months and since the album leaked everyone is just yelling at each other about stupid stuff. it started off with people saying, "you shouldn't download the album when it leaks!!! it's not what the kings would want!!!" yeah... and i'm sure they will give anyone who doesn't download a big friggin hug... come on... if you want to deprive yourself of the album it's all good, but why is everyone trying to impose their views on each other now? and it isn't like it's just disagreeing with each other. you're all going cut throat all over the place. if you don't absolutely love the new sound, you're not a real KoL fan and you should find another band. if you do love the new sound, you are a little fanboy (or girl, so I don't offend anyone) who will love any shit they shovel out.
it's been funny to watch at least...
I've listened to the cd over 20 times. I like it quite a bit. I'm not in love with it and I hate "I Want You" and I liked their old imperfections more than their new perfections, but I'm still a fan. my dad introduced me to KoL a couple years ago and he didn't like this cd at all on first listen, but he's still a fan. he is still going to listen to the cd and we are still going to the concert in boston in november.
so people gotta chill out. christ. everyone on here has cared enough about the kings to find this message board and register a name and write a post.
I don't really know how to define KoL anymore... their music used to be a little less perfect and a little more beautiful to me... now it's a little more perfect and a little less beautiful...

KOL is about the music, although they slacked a bit on the new record i think, and the teeny boy band is about publicity. |

A band will never only be just about the music, they will always be about the image as well. Otherwise, shoud we just have bands play behind a screen and we'd only see their sillouettes? But when they are more about the image than the music, its not cool. Not saying they are, but possibly on their way. And the girls can find them attractive all they want, its normal. But the comments and all from someone over 16 is annoying. Especially on a thread like this. This is all stemming from my disappointment with the lack luster new album. It's grown into me explaining my comments to people that are just not comprehensive it seems. And i dont even hate the album, just dont like it like i hoped. |

The comments are annoying, and it shames me to be a female fan a little bit. As far as defining them, i think they are a southern, family driven rock band that is on "the edge" but maybe a little further from it after Only By The Night. Sorry its just a little boring |

I wrote the novel while I was listening to Kings Of Leon on repeat play last summer, and I know the quote refers to a number of different things, one of them being the music of KoL. Which was my emotional fuel at the time. High octane fuel. |
