He's said before that New York crowds were kind of elitists since most of them think they're musicians. Like, we're too cool to seem excited about a band. But I was at the Radio City show and everybody was really into it. He said it was their best NYC show ever, but I guess he still thinks New Yorkers are stuffy. I will be front row at the Webster Hall show though, and I will rock out just to prove him wrong

Ha. Must've been a shock to have such a dull crowd after coming home from the British and Irish festivals.

I see... thanks!!
Its so weird that they are selling out arenas here like nobodys business here and not even headlining over there.....alls gonna change after they release new album though, i'd put money on it being their major breaker!!!

I want to start by saying that I am a huge KOL fan. My friends and family all know this about me and have accepted that it's not just a phase. I've been to 6 shows in the past 2 years, the latest was APW.
I started to get a little nervous when I heard "Crawl" and "Use Somebody," but I kept my mouth shut. I read the various opinions, but I wanted to wait to see if the songs grew on me or if additional songs revived my passion. I can say that "Sex on Fire" really hit me, and I went into APW with an open mind and really really looking forward to the show. I was in the front row against the gate, so I could see every facial expression, and here's the thing...they were bored. I'm not saying that I was bored, but the apathy radiating from the guys was palpable. It made me sad. I still danced and sang my heart out. Laura described the crowd well, most of them could have given a shit, but at some point, I have to stop blaming the US crowd, and wonder what the heck KOL is thinking. I know they are worshiped overseas, but here was a great opportunity to win over a massive number of US fans, and if a hard core fan like me was left feeling empty, I doubt they did that.
I also want to make it clear that I'm not asking for the world. If you go on Pearl Jam's fansite or Radiohead's, fans bitch about the smallest things. They complain if the set lists are not completely different from one night to the next. Caleb does the exact same gestures at the exact same moments in the exact same songs every single time. Yes, yes, I know they played "Sex on Fire" and that was new, and it sounded awesome, but sound alone isn't enough when there's no passion. (Sidenote: the sound was "off" at APW which probably contributed.) I just had to express that their apathy is killing me. I'd rather them take a break than not care.

I sort of agree with you, rabbit, after watching the vids on youtube. I think they held back and really could have won the crowd over by performing like they do when in Europe, but will give them the benefit of the doubt since a majority of the crowd was there for Radiohead. Having said that, I think "Sex on Fire" sounded amazing live and I can't wait to see them in Los Angeles in October!!!
