Those who don't like Crawl should listen to it really, really loud. It's brilliant.

A quote from this month's Q, p. 54, Metallica : Of course, the paradox is that your fans never want you to grow up. They demand eternal adolescence.I miss the diamond-in-the-rough feel from the early days and I'm glad I've witnessed the days when Jared still thrashed about on stage. But those feelings are dwarfed by an overwhelming relief that they're off the hard stuff now. Caleb's never looked so disgustingly healthy as now. The guys have grown up. Period. And that has resulted in a more professional sound and a more defined and measured view on their own future. And I salute them for that. But they're still not taking any prisoners. Deep down SoF is a mean little MF and it only shows that they're in full command of their career. Here here *raises glass to Kay*

I'll try to abstract on this one without even talking about the music.
Some of us have testosterone flowing through our bodies and some of us are faking it.
Women excluded, except those w/hairy chests.
Got Testes?

guess I'm not too good at abstracting. I guess I'm trying to say the new music is not very manly too EMO sounding. I cant put words to describe it, other than It doesn't click in me like the first two albums did. Just too far of a change. That and there were many interviews where they said they were going to go back to Rockin on this album, and so far it hasn't surfaced. That's probably where all the "sell-out" comments are coming from cause this isn't what they said they were going to do, so who influenced them? Sony? The fans? Huge in Europe so going with a more Stadium sound?? In one of Jared's interviews he said they were changing the sound so "other bands can't copy thier sound" I didn't buy that, it seemed like an excuse. If it aint broke, don't fix it. And they were perfect as far as I'm concerned. I gave em a pass on BOTT (Loved Camaro+My third house), cause they said they were going in a different direction on that one, with the belief they'd be back making the Music I came to know and love, but it seems like BOTT all over again. They should get Rick Rubin to produce the next one.

Hahah I laugh every time I see the word Emo being associated with KOL.
Aren't the boys allowed to be emotional?
Things like Milk and Trani are blatantly emotional, and they're off the older two albums...

Can 4 songs be considered an " overwhelming theme"? not sure but looks that way.

Just to be clear..the problem is that the songs are emotional?? And what about BOTT?? Caleb has said that that album was written because there were many emotions that the guys were dealing with that they had to translate into music! I dunno, is it possible to produce good music without any personal attachment to it?

BOTT was amazing, though. If they carry on like that, then I'm certainly not complaining.

What I think is so funny is they changed so much it's like there's two different fan bases. Those who love the old and those who love the new. In the Immortal words of Rodney King during the L.A riots. "Can't we all just get along?"
