"So, with their upcoming fourth album "Only By The Night", KOL have bitten the Big Music bullet and decided to become the monumental, Marshall stack-shagging, balls-out enormoband that we ordered way back in 2003. Riffs like ack-ack fire from a Messerschmitt made completely out of AC/DC albums roar from 'Crawl'. U2 atmospherics get deeply southern-fried untill they rattle like snakes and hum like Pentecostal choirs in rapture. Suddenly the Kings sound like a Coldplay fan's new favourite 'dangerous' rock'n'roll band." Ok, now I'm really really scared ! Don't get me wrong, I actually like Coldplay (at least their first 2 albums are among my favourites) but seeing them in an article about OBTN makes me nervous. thanks for typing the article toodrunktoremember, karma when I can ! Is there MGMT in this top too ?

Aw thankyou Yeahh MGMT were 5th, one behind KOL They're really is a lot of random things in there though, as Jay said they havn't had much success in the US, yet the article says the have. So I'm trying to overlook the whole Coldplay thing (Much as I love them, I have Coldplay to sound like Coldplay and I want KOL to sound like KOL ) and considering Crawl doesn't make me think of Coldplay at all, I'm hoping it's just NME being stupid..

MGMT were number 6 i think NME seemed to do a top 25 of "new trendy bands" with KOL and a few other seasoned performers thrown in. No My Morning Jacket, Black Keys or BRMC Epic fail by NME

BotT debuted at number 27 in the States, thats some success. At least I find it to be.

I think they have had moderate success in the states probably more than say the strokes have had however they are still pretty much classed as the trendy band in the states i.e the fans little secret I like the NME but i always think they build these bands up and then drop them like flies, so far KOL have always had good reviews from the NME but for some reason i have this feeling that their gonna slate the new record ( i really hope not but the NME are bastards like that)

I never used to get the nme like i was all young and stupid and gullible and though i havn't got much closer to the point of the magazine i do now understand that they dun arf talk alot of shite! it's like they havn't even bothered to research or do any work they just cobble things together and go oh that'll do and paint it with pretty colourful bullshitty words that no one who hasn't swallowed a dictionary in the last 24 hours could possibly understand half of and then like warp your mind and brain wash you with their pretty rock girls and boys and intimidation of 'oh but we're so much cooler than you!'
