Just for interests sake, I just read this article: www.gigwise.com/news/42847/fratellis-kings-of-leon-shouldnt-be-headlining-glastonburyThis really annoyed me cos I hate it when a little indie faggot gets a tiny bit of commercial success on 1 album and decides that suddenly they are the new Beatles. Here's a few reason's this bloke is talkin from his bowels for anyone interested: 1 - KOL are the best of the 3 headlineacts so why mention them? 2 - KOL are 1 of the best bands in the world (best in my opinion) 3 - BOTT was the best album of 2007 4 - KOL are awesome live (I love their live stuff even more than studio stuff) I've seen both KOL (several times) and the Twatellis live and where I dont want KOL gigs to end, I wanted to fall asleep during the Fratellis 5 - They have 3 albums worth of top quality tunes + B-sides they could throw out there. |

Yeah, but he said in the interview that he was a fan of them, so he probably agrees with what you said, like about BOTT and stuff.
I do think KoL should be headlining but the Fratellis are hardly "little indie faggots".
Anyway, thats just that guys opinion isn't it?
Although I do think Jay Z is a bit crap to be headlining.

woteva  they're not really lookin to do anything new like the vast majority of indie bands dont look to do anything new but they think they can go about talkin about other bands like theyre some sort of big shots kaiser cheifs did the same when i heard them say in an interview that they wer'nt impressed with any music out there... well if that shower of shit are'nt impressed then we it might be time for everyone to pack makin music in im a fan of KOL but if i thought like that bloke id say "im surprised they've been selected" not "they dont deserve it" maybe what he actually said has been exaggerated or taken out of context (it wouldn't be the first time a journo did that) but either way it annoys me when a band with slight commercial success become arrogant p.s: Jay-Z and The Verve... quiet in the last couple of years and what has been out has been crap... Glasto is turning into a poor affair |

Yeahhh, I heard that thing about Kaiser Chiefs as well. Probably just cause KoL said Kaiser Chiefs were crap  I dunno, maybe it was taken out of context, but he probably did say it. Its just, I like the fratellis |

In all fairness, their show isn't the most AMAZING, but I think the fans see KOL in a different light.
Personally, I love their show...even if they don't necessarily 'put on a show'. They just play, and it's much more organic. Their music and their attitude is a show alone. the same goes for their presence.
I've only ever seen them up close, maybe it is a different experience further back?
I still think they can do the job

yeh I kinda like the Fratellis too, I'm not into indie music that much really, odd band here and there I like yet the Fratelli's are one of the better ones
ahh well I was tired anyway when I read the article so it annoyed me more
still think it couldve been phrased better however

Who built? The Fratellis? How many times did they perform at Glasto? I like Fratellis and they are a good live band because their songs help them out as those have a good rhythm to dance and all but that's clear they will never headline Glasto! |

I'm on board with Saminton. I think this is about slagging someone to be controversial!! i watched the Frats at last years T in Park because i'm scottish and the Kings were following. It took about 10 seconds of the Kings to blow the Fratellis to shit. There are plausible pop/indie musicians, but that's about as far as i'd stretch.
I know we are all Kings fans and will defend them to the hilt, but i was also a huge Verve fan and i love their stuff, but you can't disappear for that length of time and expect to return to hedline Glast unless you are the Beatles (or who, Pink fl etc?!). Actually didn't the Frat guy say in the same line that it was crazy that the Verve were playing Glast main stage, yet he thinks they should be headliining!!?? Eh?

I also seen them in Edinburgh and it was pretty flat - tough crowd tho. But its still part of a 'slag our peers and get some press' culture and its grating!  |

Phft - this is an example of a throw-away-comment blown out of proportion by the media. The Fratelli's bassist didn't seem to mean any offense and if he was asked again he'd probably give a completely different answer. He's entitled to his opinion anyway. I'm not a huge Fratelli's fan, i like them, but i'm not a diehard trying to defend him. I'd take KOL over the Fratelli's anyday. But my point is - don't go judging the Fratelli's or their bassist on this little comment.

I think it has been taken out of context, however it pisses me off that KOL are always drawn in to this crap headlining argument, why shouldnt the kings headline?? The Killers done it last year on the back of 2 albums (and believe me im not slagging i luv the killers) The Arctic Monkeys done it aswell, KOL have to be one of the best bands out there at the moment ask any band and i bet you they mention KOL as one of their favourites, even Noel Gallagher thinks theyre the best thing to come out of America in years but we still get this argument that they shouldnt headline but i think its because they do not have the media attention of a lot of bands they dont slag people off to get attention they just let the music do the talking! And the guy from the Frattellis? i used to like them even had Costello music which is an ok album but after a few listens it irritates the tits off you, hell even the lead singer doesnt like their old songs what does that say? i think its a criminal offence that theyre even going on before KOL! they should be a lot further down the bill, i seen them at T in the Park and to be honest their very boring live its really the crowd that makes them, the singer has little or no interaction with the crowd and he always looks bored! phew thats my rant over!  Long live the Kings, they will rock everyones socks off at Glasto! |
