I was 12 when I started listening to KOL.
I'm 16 now. I actually know the exact day I started listening to them because it was the day that Lollapalooza came to Denver...I remember it because my sister was so excited to go. (August 14, 2003)

I remember the exact day as well...I was waiting at my local spa for a tanning appointment, and I was reading People magazine (yes, I was a ditzy high school cheerleader that did things like that, don't judge), and they had a review for ASH where they described them as a cross between Lynryd Skynryd and The Strokes, which sounded intriguing to me, and later that day I was on an online forum where people were talking about albums they had just bought, someone mentioned ASH, I remembered them from the magazine earlier and asked what they had thought of the album. They said that if I liked the first CD, I'd like this one too...and I figured what the hell I have no idea what I'm in for, but I'll try it. So the next day I went to my local record shop, bought it, fell in love. End of story.
That was pointless, and included not nearly enough periods. I need to go over punctuation again...oops.

(August 14, 2003) I remember the first time I heard them too. It was a band trip for school. I had my CDs stolen and asked my sister to lend me some of hers. She gave me most of Dave Matthews' live stuff, and Aha Shake. I didn'tcare too much to listen to it, so I waited until the trp back home to pop it into the CD Player. It was different. I thought the lead singer was Asian. It was his voice that threw me off. But I loved it. It was undescribable. I stayed up for the rest of the trip home rockin out to DayOld and King of the Rodeo. It was 3 am when we finally got home, i think everybody else was asleep (even the chapperones) but I found myself still rockn out. Why did I tell yall that? lol

Well I didn't think they were Asian...I knew they were American. But my sister got them confused with Kings of Tokyo so she told me they moved to Japan when they were little & have lived there preaching with their dad.

moi? ok. i can clearly remember when i first heard them. it was when aha shake heartbreak was just coming out, and mtv [[lammeee]] played the bucket. so i said, wow, i really gotta check this band out. so some time after that, i bought the cd. sure enough, i feel DEEPLY in love with them. and let me see, aha shake heartbreak came out arounnddddd 2004 so 3 yrs ago that was. i was 12. and i'm 15 now. wow....
and about them being on mtv, i reallyyy hope that doesnt happen again!! i truly don't want them to become mainstream like frickin fall out boy and such. if i asked 10 people if they know who kings of leon is, maybe about 4 of them know them. i want it to stay like that. i like how they're like a secret, and we're like apart of this secret group who only know who kol is. never will i tolerate 8 out of 10 people knowing who kol is. ewwww. i dont like that!!

I was 29 and listening to a music service called musicmatch that came with a new computer I had purchased.
I was really into the Strokes and did a match for them ( you put in the name of a band you like and it played other bands you might like ) Molleys Chambers came on and the rest is history. I fell in love with the band and soon found out my wife and I know one of their cousins very well.
I have a tight circle of music loving freinds and I tunred them all on to KOL. I think There are 7 of us going to the LA show that I am personally resonsible for.
I am 34 now and credit the kings for reigniteing my love for music.
I to hope they dont fall prey to the MTV set. BE popular with a devoted following.
