Im going for YAYM its got the more southern feel too it which is why I liked Kol in the first place.Favourites are Dusty, Wasted Time, California and all the others. Special Favourites on ASH:Four Kicks, Bucket, Where nobody knows and milk. I never listen to Taper Jean Girl really but isn't taper jean girl a little more southern than the bucket

Yeah it could be but I never listen to it. The Bucket is more ear pleasing even though its not southern

I Love them both equally...i know thats a total shit answer, but when I need some raw, kick you in the face and dream rock I need Youth. But for something more mature, pensive, expressive genuis rock...then I need Aha. Best Songs off Each album: Youth and Young Manhood - Tranni, Holly Roller Novocaine, Wasted Time, Happy Alone Aha Shake Heartbreak - Four Kicks, Day Old Blues, Milk, Pistol of Fire Other Albums, EP's, LP's, Singles, etc. - Head to Toe, Wicker Chair, Molly's Hangover, Where Nobody Knows

They can deny it all they want, but those boys sound straight from the south. And I LOVED that about them. It was modern day southern rock and they're the only ones doing an honest version of that. Anyhow, Spiral Staircase was the favorite & after seeing them perform trani at Bonnaroo...I love it. It could be the ending song for a movie... On AHA it'd have to be Pistol of Fire & Four Kicks...again, I like the twang. This album was more 80s influenced. You can tell they were listening to more poppish music...some Pixies, some Talking Heads, opening their ears a little. Which is good, but I'm still stuck on the south. I'm pretty fond of Razz right now too. I skip the slow ones.

I couldn't survive without my Youth and Young Manhood. and when aha was first coming out, I was kind of worried by all of the talk of how different it was. But the truth is, I'm really glad they did something a little different, cause it just shows how extremely talented they are that they can do several things really really well. plus, (like some other people said) there's KoL to fit every mood!

its so bludy hard 2 decide....... YAYM is faster and has more energy but ASH has a lot of different stuff on it and is more mature..... at the moment it would have to be YAYM because i'm feeling happy.
Best YAYM songs r holy roller novacaine and Molly's chambers Best ASH songs are milk nd pistols of fire, which is a weird choice i suposes cuz there both so different :-)

oh ! nice topic !
(scuse my bad english)
i feel like in europe we all prefer YYM... personally for these reasons :
all songs on this album are EXCELLENT they've a fuckin' sound, we hear easily the caleb's guitar (in aha it's to clean) they were beautiful (like creedence... not fucking fashion victim, very clean, with invaluable clothes, seedy hair...) it is a a dirty album, with pure garage sound ! for me aha is to clean, not a good rock n roll guitar (on kotr for example)...
and i think there's some songs who are not very good on aha : rememo, taper jean girl,...
but there is excellent song on aha : slow night so long, bucket, soft, 4 kicks,...
YYM is perfect (this period of kings of leon, with wicker chair,... )
i'm definitely a fan of the first age of kings of leon
