i love four kicks, this is a lil off the topic but do u think the boys are being uh, ironic??like theyre taking the piss because we all want to hear and emphasise the whole 'from the south' thing, like they wrote the song just so journos whould leave them alone?? do u agree, think im an idiot? wait, what? I'm really confused. are you basically asking if kol exaggerates their southern-ness? cause, I think they do to some degree. but what band doesn't exaggerate their image? that's kinda part of the deal.

I thought she was asking if the song was just to make fun of how people obess over the southern thing. It is part of their image and they really don't have a say in that. So why not have fun with it
right? I think I repeated what you said.. now I am confused. thanks dallas

I can't listen to YAYM without wanting to play along on guitar, so i only really listen to that at home in my bedroom or wherever I've got a guitar.
But ASH isn't anywhere near as exciting to play on guitar. But I find it better to just listen to than YAYM as the tracklisting is a lot better especially the firsat half of songs.
Fave songs YAYM- Spiral Staircase/Happy Alone ASH- Taper Jean girl/ Slow night.....

I think you were right, now I understand. at first I was confused cause when she said "this is a little off topic" I thought that she was straying away from the topic of four kicks, but now I do think that she was talking about four kicks.

oh, I'm sorry... I hate it when family leaves, or when I have to leave family. so depressing! I think you need a little karma to cheer you up. this whole karma thing is really uplifting! it's kind of like random acts of kindness!

i think i'd have to say ASH, its so much more layered and interesting that YAYM musically, i can always find something new that i didnt notice before every time i listen to it. i think its harmonically brilliant, their writing has improved so much especially considering angelo only helped out on two tracks. the way caleb and matts guitar parts compliment and bounce off eachother throughout the whole record is amazing, i think the guitar is probably my favourite thing about it. not to say that the rest of it isnt great - coz it is. i love the drums and percussion on taper jean girl and the bass sounds so warm. i think the production is much better than on YAYM too.
i must admit i prefer YAYM lyrically though, i think some of the imagery is gorgeous, sometimes i find the lyrics on ASH a bit cold and unaccessable. plus theres the nostaglia factor, it jujst reminds me of driving around listening to the demos in the summer just before it came out, and then of seeing them on tour for the first time. i love love love both but 9 times out of 10 if i was going to play a kol record it'd be ASH. i really cant wait until they do another, if they step up as much as they did last time it's going to be unbelievable.
songwise i reckon that my favourite from ASH is milk at the moment - its so stripped down and so far from the full on ness of the majority of it and i think calebs voice and his songwriting really stand up. also the lyrics are lovely.
from YAYM i think my favourite would be trani for the same reasons, i'd really like to hear them do more quieter stuff. having said that i fucking love the energy of the faster songs. its been ages since i've rambled about kol, i've quite enjoyed it heh.
woah thats long lol

I avoided this topic because I really can't and don't want to choose. But my favorite tracks off of YAYM are California Waiting (because of the cowbell) and Wasted Time. Off of ASH I think 4Kicks and Razz are favorites.
