i was looking through some of the threads from way back in 2005 and stuff. and i noticed that there were many people on here who don't seem to log on or post anymore so i was wondering for those old timers who are still active on the forum,
what do you guys think of us newbies who have recently become obsessed with not only the band but this website?
i just recently joined in june/july but theres some of you who have been here for a couple years so i was just wondering, what has changed with the forum and the band? i noticed that in many of the old threads, the fans were able to party and hang out with KOL after their shows. i'm sure this still happens but we don't post it on the forum anymore, why is that?
anyways, these are random questions and i hope someone answers, if not that's ok.
:]

The members of the forum used to be a lot nicer to each other back then. No offense, but in some threads I really can't feel the love. ha
Not necessarily a bad thing I suppose, spices things up a bit.
And yeh, there used to be way more aftershow stories and pictures. But at the time I joined the forum only had about 200 members.

it's probably harder to party with them now, so not as many people have stories.

I got some love you can feel Sappy. I'm kidding of course. I still hear of people meeting the band after shows at clubs and such. I saw them in MPLS in August and had to leave immediately after the show, otherwise I may have tried to follow them to a club and get an autograph or something. They seem pretty friendly. I know I could have had my picture taken with Nacho.

sar, it'd be great to intergrate the oldies with us newbies. you should deffo try and be around more. i haven't been here long, but everyone is so welcoming you can be a complete newbie and considered just as much of a part of the board as anyone else

It must be weird if you've been here since it was really small and now they're so many people. The other forum i'm on is a bit like that. I've been a mamber since the start of the year and there was onoly a few people posting all the time and now there's a load of new people everyday. At least it means the band are gaining more fans!

I think the onslaught of new members happened around the time this forum was joined with the official page, which happened to coinside with the new album, which always help garner interest.

well to answer i think is that u sort of get over kol, not entirely but you become less obsessed with the band, which is the main reason people come to this forum, to hear about the band, see pics and hear gossip. As your obsession dies down you start checking the forum less and less. It will probably happen to you newbies too, after a while.

My obsession died ages ago, but I've stuck around to a lesser extent just because I like the people, which is saying a lot...I've been on loads of band forums before, and I usually leave right after I stop obsessing over the band(The Libs, DPT, Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys, etc)...but you lot have forced me to stick around.

I'm the same way. I love the band and all, but you can only talk about them so much. I find myself more interested in the Random section. I like to hear about everyones day and what's going on in their life - there's some really interesting and funny people on here! I also like to talk about movies, TV shows, other bands, etc. It's also a really good way to learn about new music, because where I live the radio stations suck!

As much as the obsession on this forum may die down, and the obsession with the guys may fade, a bit I really can't see my love for their music fading, ever. [edit] by 'them' i ment their music...
