Kings of Leon have officially become the biggest rock band in Ireland, everyone knows them and loves them. Its kinda weird, they've transformed from one of those bands only i and a few others in school knew about , to the band everyone (and by that i mean people who only know a song if its in the top 10) brings up in conversation's about music really? ooo i cant imagine that, good for KOL then! they are popular in england but i dont know anyone that LOVES them really, only a few have heard of them and only like a couple songs. i kinda like me being the only one out of all my friends that likes them lol

i went out looking for the fans single today. i bought it online but i wanted the actual CD because the case looked spiffy [shut up].
anywho, i went to five stores before i actually found one that carried any kings of leon CD much less a single, and it was barnes and noble. oddly enough, two people at that one barnes and noble knew who they were, but no one at any of the other stores had ever heard of them.
i also once ran into a girl at kroger[supermarket] who was wearing a kings of leon shirt, and she said her brother was tight with nacho or something.
other than that, i have yet to meet anyone who has any clue who they are.

here in australia KOL are sorta known..well not really...
im a massive fan myself, however, as we poke fun of teenage girls, the ONLY reason my girlfriends know of KOL is coz of their 'cute bassist'.... and the ONLY reason they know of the cute bassist is coz they know how obsessed i am... the always take the piss coz they think i listen to 'weird' music- this coming from a bunch of girls who listen to mainly the crap tha gets all that radio play!!!
however, i must admit i feel very proud when all my friends can bring up a KOL member's name- they know all their names- including all the names of the foo fighters- i mean, i feel i have accomplished something!! ... as for nacho, one of em even constantly refers to him (she thinks jared is HOTT, but who doesnt? lol)
well there are two sydney shows for the BOTT tour... i feel sad but happy. sad that it might be filled with those screamin girlies who know like one song and are really there coz they rate the followill boys.. but happy coz i knw their fanbase has sorta grown!!! i think their fan base has grown coz of perhaps JJJ (triple j radio station)... i mean, the first time i ever heard KOL was on that station (which is only listened to by the real-music lovers, note i dont listen to it religiously!).. it was either the bucket or four kicks... i thought it was so damn catchy and i heard it like 4 times on that station... i liked it instantly for some reason!!
but yea, then by brother brought ASH and it grew from there!
i guess i could say they are sorta loved in sydney.. seeing as the show sold out..BUT if i bring up KOL alot of the time people stare at me blankly!! such a shame...

I´m not sure just how well known they are here in Finland, but I´m pretty sure none of my friends know/like them.. That´s how it´s always been (I´ve been the one with the weird or even "pretentious(!) taste in music" - whatever! What do they know..) I became a fan when I heard "Oncall" and became a massive fan when I finally saw them on Jay Leno (I looove "Charmer")... So yes, I´ve just started! All I listen to nowadays is ASH & Because Of The Times... brilliant!Love them guitar and basslines

They're relatively big in Germany. I think Germany was like one of the first countries they started gigging in. I went to one of their gigs in Berlin, November 2003 I believe. I think the arena holds about 3000 people. So not big at all. It was a night I'll never forget. And a band called The Mooney Suzuki was their support. They're awesome! Bought their most recent album at the time just a few days after the gig.

They're kinda sickeningly big here in Ireland-I mean don't get me wrong, it's great and it hopefully means they'll do more and more gigs here but it's as if me and my friends are not original for liking them anymore-cos everyone does! I just remember when YAYM came out and my boyfriend's band decided to do a live cover of Molly's Chambers and everybody was like 'wow, what is that song, I've never heard it before' and we were all 'oh, it's this amazing band called Kings of Leon'. I really enjoyed introducing people to their music. But that doesn't happen anymore cause everyone knows them!

I completey agree with you chandler - Well, at least i would if that was the case where i live. I live in London, where the Kings are very popular. Though i don't know anyone who LOVES them. At least no where near as much as i do I'd hate it if everyone loved them, so much. Is that bad? But that doesn't mean i don't want them to do well!

In the UK about 3 years ago Kings of Leon were relitively intermediate; they managed to sell out a local venue near me with a capacity 4000. Last week they sold out Wembey Arena which can hold 12,750. Pretty much says it all! While in the past you might have had the odd person who might have heard Four Kicks, the most common reaction was "who?" when you mentioned them. Now more people than not know them, and even my parents recognise Calebs voice!
And good on them! They deserve success! I'm just gald I got the chance to see them grow and appreciate them as a pretty unknown foursome to one of the UK's favorite rock bands.

As far as i can see most people over here(Ireland!) know them, whether they like them or not. Fans got loads of radio time over here, i'd here it nearly everyday and now i'm hearing Ragoo on the radio a lot too. Most of my friends like them, although i think some of them classify liking them as only knowing the Bucket and Fans! I think my Aunt may have bought their album recently! Of course you still get some people who give you this blank look when you mention them and then go- "Are they a band?!" Still the fact that they were the band people said they most wanted to see play Oxegen next year, out of any bands, says a lot. Thank god people can recognise good music! I don't care how big they get as long as they don't forget the fans who've been with them from the start and helped them get recognition by helping to spread the joy!

I'm a bitch who likes hack people's internet connections so I can look at their music libraries on iTunes and judge them...and I did that today to a girl known only as "kayla k on the roecher network" and she had probably the worst music taste I've ever seen...we're talking down right awful shit that I can't even come up with an example to represent how bad...anyway, she also had about 6 songs from the Kings of Leon. This was her only redeeming quality. I see this as sign of their success in America...even girls with nothing more than the lowest of the low Top 40 selections know who they are apparently.

Kings are.... probably not that popular round here in NZ. They played vector which holds 12,000 i think. But they only sold out GA and a lot of seats were empty...and GA took quiiiiiite a while to sell anyways. So the general public knows them because of On Call...and you get the alternative community which loves them...but NZ alt community is kinda.....

When they were here in Sydney they played the Hordern Pavillion which I think holds around 8000 people. And they sold out two shows so thats a pretty decent effort. They didn't sell out in minutes or anything though so I'd say they've got a fair following here in Australia but not a crazy annoyingly large fan base yet.

^^^^^ i asked the security gaurd at the horden pavillion, andhe said it holds 5, 500 people. and both shows sold out. so thats pretty remarkable. but, they are kol. o'course theyre gonna have sold out shows. its sooo damn freaky how much their fan base has grown. they must be proud. incredible.
